What Is Enhanced FOV?
First revealed through the PC trailer for Modern Warfare 4, Enhanced FOV is a new settings option available to all PC users. As explained in the Call of Duty blog, this setting uses "physically accurate lens effects" to increase the player's field of view near the edges of the monitor without affecting the images in the center.
In other words, it appears this option won't add another fisheye effect over the image. Instead, it will try to increase the field of view without distorting the central image as much.
The blog also mentions that this will be useful for players who prefer a smaller FOV without losing "the awareness advantage of a wider field of view."
The PC trailer, which you can see below, appears to feature gameplay clips with this option turned on, giving us an early look.
