  • Quick Answer: The Call of Duty movie is moving ahead, now with a release date, writers, and director confirmed.

During its panel at CinemaCon 2026 in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States, Paramount Pictures confirmed several details about its upcoming Call of Duty movie.

As reported by THR, the feature is now set to release in theaters on June 30, 2028. This is only the domestic release date, but given the scale of this production, we can expect the movie to be released that same day or close to it in other markets.

The Madison's creator, Taylor Sheridan, is in charge of writing the script, along with Pete Berg. Berg has been tapped to take the director's seat. His previous credits include Hancock, Battleship, and Mile 22.

Rob Kostich, head of Activision and producer on the movie, said the following during the presentation: "We want to make sure that the authenticity of it is captured on a human level so that it feels really real and infuse that with epic scope."

Given that the script hasn't been written, we still don't have any details about the movie's plot. So it is unknown whether it will be a completely new story or based on one of the game's sub-franchises.

The project has been in the works since September 2025, when the studio struck a deal with Activision to make a live-action feature. Paramount is no stranger to video game adaptations, as they have seen recent success with the Sonic franchise.
