- Quick Answer: BlazBlue Central Fiction is receiving a surprise new DLC character, set to be revealed at Evo 2026.
BlazBlue: Central Fiction is back from the dead. Well, it was never really an abandoned game, with a fierce, dedicated playerbase still enjoying the Arc System Works anime fighter released originally back in 2015. That said, the devs shocked fans by announcing a brand-new DLC for the game, almost 10 years after the release of the final one, Jubei.
The news was dropped during a small Arc System Works showcase on June 24, where members of the development team confirmed that Central Fiction is getting a new character, which will be unveiled this week at Evo 2026.

Arc System Works has been hard at work with multiple projects since the last BlazBlue saw the light of day. Dragon Ball FighterZ propelled the studio to a new level of fame, and Guilty Gear Strive became their most popular game based on an IP owned by the studio. Currently, the vast majority of the studio is focusing on the highly anticipated Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, set for release in early August.
To say that 2026 has been a year of resurgence for BlazBlue seems like an understatement. Getting a brand-new DLC character is an outlandish thing for any game, let alone an 11-year-old one. Beyond that, the launch of the refined BlazBlue Entropy Effect, one of the best rogue-likes of the year, feels like a cherry on top.
If you’re a BlazBlue fan, you best not miss Evo 2026 this upcoming June 26-28.
