- Quick Answer: The article announces the release of the first episode of World of Warcraft: Planet Azeroth, a comedic docuseries narrated by Bill Bailey, ahead of the WoW: Forever launch.
Blizzard Entertainment is recruiting comedian Bill Bailey to narrate a tongue-in-cheek, David Attenborough-style exploration of Azeroth before the release of World of Warcraft: Forever.
Ahead of the highly anticipated November 4 launch, Blizzard Entertainment has released the first episode of a new three-part comedic nature docuseries titled World of Warcraft: Planet Azeroth.
Fronted by renowned comedian, actor, and musician Bill Bailey, the series takes a David Attenborough-inspired approach to exploring the creatures, environments, and uncharted territories of Blizzard's reimagined fantasy world.
Rather than just providing voiceover, Bailey has been fully rendered in-game as a Dwarven adventurer. Armed with his trademark wit and curiosity, he guides viewers through Azeroth's most iconic zones, from the tranquil woodlands of Elwynn Forest to the frozen peaks of Winterspring, and previously unvisited locales like Mount Hyjal.
Along the way, the series takes a "documentary-gone-rogue" approach to detailing local wildlife, including Murlocs, Kobolds, and the various hazards awaiting players in the updated sandbox.
Speaking on his involvement in the project, Bill Bailey said:
"I've always been fascinated by the natural world, but nothing quite prepares you for Azeroth. The creatures are extraordinary, the landscapes are stunning and, unlike many other nature documentaries I’ve been involved in, I managed to stay dry and not get bitten by something. It was enormous fun exploring this strange and wonderful world."
The docuseries serves as a kickoff for World of Warcraft: Forever, a reimagining of the original game's setting where the world itself takes center stage.
"For more than 20 years, players have fallen in love with Azeroth itself—its landscapes, mysteries, creatures, and the stories hidden around every corner," added Holly Longdale, Executive Producer for World of Warcraft. "World of Warcraft: Forever is our chance to revisit that world through fresh eyes, and World of Warcraft: Planet Azeroth captures that spirit perfectly."
