Eurogamer was able to interview lead producer Julien Laferrière to discuss the new game. We'd implore you to read the article here, but here's a quick rundown of what we've learned.

Laferrière confirms that players will be able to construct and customise their own Viking village that grows as the story progresses, adding another layer of RPG systems to a series that has fast transitioned to the genre.

We also know that there will be sizeable decisions to make within your settlement, with alliances, weddings, clashes, and all kinds of events that can happen.

There will even be a tattoo parlour in your settlement, along with a blacksmith and barracks for upgrades and customisation. Speaking of which, Eivor can be both male or female.

The villain this time around is King Alfred, who looks to be aligned with the Templars, while there will be plenty of Norse mythology – with the trailer hinting at Odin and his Raven, the latter of which will be our new animal companion.

Naval combat is also back, alongside another huge open-world, but there's no multiplayer here – despite being heavily rumoured at launch. Oh, and in case you were wondering, yes, the present-day sections are back.
