Arc Raiders Flashpoint: What's New for Raiders?

The Escalation expansion is moving right along, and Flashpoint: the third major update of 2026: dropped on March 31. If you have been keeping up with Arc Raiders since launch, you already know the drill: log in, die to a Shredder, re-think your loadout, repeat. However, Flashpoint changes the rhythm a bit, and there is enough here to warrant a proper breakdown. If you are also looking to shortcut the grind and gear up faster, check out ARC Raiders boost options: they can save you a lot of painfully earned time.

ARC Operation: Close Scrutiny: High Risk, Allegedly High Reward

The headline feature of Flashpoint is a new major map condition called Close Scrutiny. A large ARC object known as the Assessor has descended on Speranza and is not going anywhere. Celeste wants to know what it is doing; Raiders want what is inside it: classic two-birds-one-stone situation.

Here is the catch: when Close Scrutiny is active, overall loot on the map takes a noticeable hit. The regular pick-up spots dry up, and the focus shifts entirely to the Assessor itself. ARC patrols around it are described by Embark as "unprecedented," and the Vaporizer: more on that in a moment: tends to show up in force. In short, you are trading a relaxed looting run for a high-pressure objective with better potential rewards, including blueprints for at least one of the new weapons.

Meet the Vaporizer: A Flying Nightmare with a Laser

The Vaporizer is a new aerial ARC unit and it lives up to its name. It flies in groups, uses laser attacks, and has what Embark politely calls "idiosyncratic attack patterns": which is developer speak for "good luck predicting this thing." Previously spotted only in Stella Montis, the Vaporizer is now out in the broader Speranza environment, particularly around ARC Operations.

And since we are on the topic of enemies getting more freedom: Shredders have also broken out of Stella Montis. They now roam Blue Gate, Buried City, and Spaceport, and appear in Dam Battlegrounds under certain map conditions. Maps that felt manageable before are now significantly less comfortable.

New Weapons and Gear at a Glance

Flashpoint adds two new weapons and a deployable item to the arsenal:

Item
Type
Notes
Canto SMG
Submachine Gun (Medium Ammo)
Close-quarters ARC and Raider fighting; reliable medium ammo economy
Dolabra
Energy Shotgun (Legendary)
Variable focus: wide burst or concentrated electricity; blueprint found in Close Scrutiny
Surge Coil
Deployable (Rare)
Electrifies a zone periodically; solid passive defense while looting or reviving

The Dolabra in particular looks promising for players who have struggled against ARC armor: the variable focus gives you flexibility that a standard shotgun does not.

Scrappy Gets Fed. Crafting Gets Fixed.

Two quality-of-life changes in Flashpoint deserve more attention than they are getting.

First, Scrappy: the beloved companion rooster who has been somewhat coasting on charm alone: now has a Feeding Boost mechanic. You can feed him specific items to influence the type of loot he brings back. Keep feeding him consistently, and he will also return higher-value items overall. This turns Scrappy from a passive cosmetic into an actual farming tool, which addresses a real pain point for players who have been ignoring him at higher levels.

Second, and arguably just as important, crafting has been streamlined. Previously, figuring out which materials you were missing meant hopping between tabs and cross-referencing traders, stash, and inventory. Now, when you lack a material, the game surfaces available sources: recycle, refine, or purchase: in a single window. Hours saved per week, no exaggeration.

High Gain Antenna: The Story Moves Forward

Flashpoint also introduces a new player project: the High Gain Antenna. Celeste and Shani need aerial surveillance capabilities, and that means Raiders doing the legwork to gather resources. The project is tied to the mysterious aerial phenomena that have been building since the Shrouded Sky update, and it is widely read as setup for the next enemy in Riven Tides: the final Escalation update expected in April.

In practical terms, the High Gain Antenna gives you a structured goal to pursue across sessions, which the game needs. Random extraction loops get stale; directional objectives do not.

What to Do When You Log In

If you are jumping back in for Flashpoint, here is a sensible priority order:

  • Head into a Close Scrutiny session with a solid loadout: the Assessor will not give up its loot to underprepared Raiders.
  • Farm the Dolabra blueprint from the Close Scrutiny event since it is the most situational of the three new additions and the hardest to find elsewhere.
  • Start feeding Scrappy immediately: the Feeding Boost is persistent, so the earlier you start, the more value you get over the season.
  • Begin contributing to the High Gain Antenna project to unlock its rewards before Riven Tides makes it feel outdated.
  • Rethink your map rotation on Blue Gate, Buried City, and Spaceport: Shredders are present now, and old safe routes will get you killed.

Looking Ahead to Riven Tides

Flashpoint functions as both a content injection and a bridge. The ARC Operations framework creates a reusable structure for high-difficulty events. The Scrappy and crafting changes compound over time. And the High Gain Antenna is very clearly pointing toward something larger.

Riven Tides: scheduled for April: is rumored to include a brand-new map, a boss-tier ARC enemy, and a Raider Deck. Whether that is enough to reverse the player count slide that has been ongoing since January remains to be seen, but Flashpoint is at least a step in the right direction: a meaningful one, not just seasonal filler.

The full patch notes for update 1.22.0 are available on the Arc Raiders wiki if you want the granular balance changes. Worth checking before you head out: especially the Firefly and Rocketeer adjustments that did not make the marketing copy.

Either way: gear up, feed your rooster, and watch the sky. The Vaporizer is not subtle.
