ARC Raiders continues to be this year’s best multiplayer game, and there are no signs of stopping its momentum. Week after week, ARC Raiders’ player numbers keep skyrocketing, beating their previous records.
The dust hasn’t settled since then. New players have yet to explore the harsh yet beautiful Topside, where they face countless evil clankers called Arcs and a wide variety of Raiders.
To give everyone an edge in ARC Raiders’ brutal world, here are the best beginner-friendly common weapons in the game.
The Ferro

The Ferro is by far one of the best beginner-friendly weapons in the game. Even without standard weapon mods, it can pack a punch against both Arcs and Raiders.
One shot from a Ferro can instantly break their shields, and the next shot will take them back to Speranza with zero acquired loot. The only downside is that it can only fire a single shot, reducing your chances of survival with every reload. It’s not ideal for fast-paced encounters.
Against Arc machines, the Ferro will be your go-to weapon against them. One single shot can send them reeling back. If you hit their weak spots, it’s guaranteed to hit their insides, causing them to burn up. While it may be effective against weaker Arcs, don’t even think of using it against Bastions or Leapers. It is possible, sure, but it takes a whole lot of effort (and good aim) to maximize damage from their weak spots.
The Rattler

This reliable assault rifle has been my go-to weapon during my early hours in the game. It uses medium ammo, and it can deal considerable damage against Arcs and other players. It’s perfect for long-range to close-range encounters, ideal for raids in Buried City or the new map, Stella Montis.
While it is good, it also has an abysmally low ammo count of 10. To maximize the Rattler’s effectiveness, adding weapon mods like compensators and extended magazines can greatly improve your chances of survival.
The Stitcher

The Stitcher is a semi-automatic rifle that uses light ammo. It has
Perfect for close-combat encounters, the Stitcher can pack a 20 ammo count and high fire rate. It’s the ideal weapon for close-range combat against hostile Raiders, such as inside buildings. Pair it with mods like compensators, extended mags, and angled grips, and it can be a nasty PvP machine.
Its only major downside is that it can’t really make a dent in Arc machines. So don’t even think of using this against Hornets, Pops, or Wasps.
The Kettle

One of the most underrated weapons in the game. The Kettle is actually pretty good if you know how to use it. Like the Rattler, the Kettle specializes in both long and close-range combat. It is a semi-automatic rifle with good accuracy and damage.
If you can stock it up with mods like angled grips, muzzle brakes, and ammo mags, it can dwarf even the game’s strongest weapons, like the Tempest.
As usual, like with any light ammo weapon, you can’t deal damage against Arc machines.
The Hairpin

This shouldn’t really be on the list, but we should just acknowledge how useless it is. The Hairpin isn’t a good weapon for beginners. It deals minuscule damage, and its bullets can’t penetrate Arc machines.
It’s easily one of the worst common weapons in the game, as its effectiveness is only situational. Unless you are going for a stealthier run, the Hairpin is a great pick.
These five common weapons are your standard tools that come free with the “Free Loadout.” When upgraded, modded, and handled well, they can outshine Epic and Legendary weapons. Check out our other ARC Raiders guides, such as beginner's tips and where to find the Rusted Gear.
And best of all? They’re mostly cheap to craft.
