  • Quick Answer: The Bloodborne animated movie is a confirmed R-rated adaptation by Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions, aiming for a faithful, visceral portrayal of Yharnam's gothic horror.

Bloodborne is one of the most beloved games ever created by FromSofware, and for years, people have been asking for a sequel or even a 60 FPS version of the game. While there's no news of either happening, even after so long, fans can at least rejoice knowing that the game will at least be getting an animated film.

During CinemaCon, Sony Pictures announced that production for it will be taking place, and many questions have been asked regarding the matter. Among them, one that is likely on everybody's minds is what bosses from the game will make it to the film.

Obvious ones, such as Gehrman and Mergo's Wet Nurse, are pretty much assured to make it in, given how important they are in the grand scheme of the plot, but the rest are still a question mark. Although there's no telling who could end up making it in, I believe there are a few others who play vital enough roles that they have to be included, and here are their names:

1. The Cleric Beast

Every Bloodborne player knows of the Cleric Beast, as they have likely fallen to it at least once during their playthrough. The best, or perhaps worst, part is that fighting it is entirely optional, yet many fought it anyway, which is a testament to how greatly associated it is with the game.

While it doesn't play a significant role in the overall story, it has left such a lasting impression on the community that it would be an insult not to include it in the film. It is also the perfect boss that will set up what audiences should look forward to while watching the film: a lot of eldritch horrors that are amazing and terrifying to see and hear.

2. Father Gascoigne

Much like the Cleric Beast, Father Gascoigne is so popular that not having him in the film would be a crime. And it's not just his popularity that earns him a spot, but also the fact that he can play a huge role in shaping the narrative.

Through him, the audience can learn the horrors of the Beast Plague when it transforms those who have been on the hunt in the world of Yharnam. He also has a tragic backstory involving his wife and children that should touch the hearts of viewers, making it even more urgent that he be in the film.

3. Ebrietas, Daughter of the Cosmos

Although this monster is more tucked away than all the others, it should still be in the animated film. Aside from being one of the toughest bosses in Bloodborne, which can lead to some spectacular fight scenes, it can be used to make it easier to understand how the Healing Church serves its purpose.

Instead of being saved for later, it may even be introduced sooner in the film, as doing so makes sense with how its blood is used in leading to the many problems surrounding Yharnam. Also, with it being a Great One, it would be nice to use it as a way to introduce the audience to what's essentially the world's Gods that humanity both worships and fears due to their power.

4. Rom, the Vacuous Spider

This giant eldritch spider is as menacing as it looks disgusting, but it's also the gateway into revealing what's really going on in Yharnam. Rom actually acts as the barrier that's holding back the true nightmare that people don't normally see, giving everyone even the tiniest shred of normalcy in a world that desperately needs it.

By defeating it, that barrier is broken, and so too the illusion. When that happens, the audience will see all of the other monstrosities that have been lurking around all along, providing more perspective on how horrible things really are for everyone. So, Rom has to be in the film just for that, even if the boss itself isn't the most exciting to take on.

5. The Moon Presence

The Moon Presence is essentially the real final boss of Bloodborne, and there are justifiable reasons for wanting to see it in the film. One is that before facing it, the Hunter will have to go through Gehrman, essentially ensuring there will be one awesome fight between mentor and apprentice before heading into another.

The next reason is that it explains the existence of the Hunter's Dream and how it allows the main character to be able to take on the Great Ones and the rest of the eldritch horrors of Yharnam, making it a crucial entity. And the final reason is that beating it leads to a bittersweet ending that stops a vicious cycle that could have affected others, but at the cost of the Hunter being turned into a Great One. All that allows for important information to be relayed while also creating an epic conclusion, which is why the Moon Presence has to be in the film.

There are a lot of other bosses that would make the film worth watching, but I strongly believe these five need to be included to make everything more cohesive and more intriguing. If Sony and the rest can make it work without some of them somehow, then that would be fine, but I doubt it would be as good, given how much they can contribute to the overall narrative.
