- Quick Answer: 2XKO is releasing its final two characters, Sett and Samira, on October 27th as the game enters maintenance mode.
2XKO is going out with an absolute bang. On top of Samira coming this October—a character revealed back in June—the developers have dropped one final surprise: Sett will be the actual final character the tag fighter will receive. Both are set to be released on October 27.
It was a bumpy ride up to the game’s release, but one simply can’t deny that the year-long support the game received throughout 2026 has been nothing short of stellar. In total, the game got seven new characters, bumping the final character tally to 18. It’s not a particularly massive roster, but it’s much better than the initial count.
The developers stated that Sett is the final parting gift from the people still working behind the scenes to ensure 2XKO’s maintenance mode goes smoothly. The game won’t be going anywhere, but there will be no more updates or future patches after 2026. Modes like ranked were also disabled to shepherd the remaining player base into a less competitive casual environment.
Game Director and Gameplay Design Lead Shaun Rivera stated:
“Everyone on our team wanted to give you all one last surprise. They not only poured their love and passion into Samira, but also managed to find a way to do the same with Sett as well. They are both so fun, and we can't wait for you to get your hands on them. Much love.”
Both characters will be unlocked right from the get-go. There will be no grinding involved or any way to buy premium currency to get them early. The only piece of content still available for purchase is the mega bundle, which includes every single skin and cosmetic available for all Champions for $40.
It’s a long shot, but maybe, just maybe, a #Save2XKO movement could lead to a miracle? Only time will tell.
