- Quick Answer: The 2XKO June 9 update introduces two new Champions, Senna and Thresh, along with a brand-new PvE roguelite mode called The Climb.
The June 9 2XKO update could completely change the future of Riot's free-to-play tag fighter. Not only are they dropping two new Champions: Senna and Thresh, but also a brand-new PvE mode called The Climb.
The Climb is a roguelite mode that can be played in Solo or Duos. You pick your team, Fuse, and set out on a run with branching paths, getting harder and harder as you progress.
Like any good roguelite, there will be dozens of modifiers called Augments, which are exclusive to The Climb. These will alter how your Champions play and will be available after you win a match. Some of the ones shown include a very funny one that gives super armor to your taunts, or one that lets you steal super meter bar from your opponent on a successful hit.

There will be mini-bosses and campfires along the way to replenish health, super meter, and break bar. After each fight, your health won't replenish unless you stop at these campfires.
The best thing about The Climb is that you'll have plenty of rewards to grind for, including Chromas for base Champion skins, avatar items, stickers, and Battle Pass XP.
This new mode reminds me a bit of Legends of Runeterra's Path of Champions, which was a massive PvE experience that ended up becoming the game's most supported mode.
I doubt that will happen with 2XKO, and I'm glad to see Riot Games is adding new ways to enjoy the game, which is something I pleaded earlier in the year.
