If you're in the same boat as many of us, patiently waiting for the day we see red when opening an Apex Pack, we offer our condolences. If you have no idea what we're talking about, it's Apex Legends' Heirlooms. The coveted cosmetics are nigh impossible to find, so we're here to tell you exactly how to get Heirloom Shards in Apex Legends.
Heirloom Shards are perfect for flexing your might when climbing the Apex Legends ranked ladder, and although they won't help your gameplay at all, they can be used to create Heirlooms, incredibly sought-after items that many of the characters on our Apex Legends tier list can use to make their melee attacks look a lot cooler. Heirloom Shards can be crafted into heirlooms for about half of the Apex Legends roster, and will grant you a bunch of cosmetic upgrades - not least a bespoke melee weapon to flex on Olympus, Kings Canyon, and World's Edge.
Many who have played since launch are still awaiting their hallelujah moment, whereas some new players have been snagging them quickly - such as xQc who managed to get an heirloom during his first time playing. It just doesn't seem fair. Below we'll run through all we know about Heirlooms, Heirloom Shards and more!

How Many Apex Packs Do I Have To Open To Get an Heirloom?
The main reason that it's so difficult to get your hands on an Heirloom is because you only have a 1 in 500 chance of getting an Apex Pack containing Heirloom Shards, meaning it could take you up to your 500th Apex Pack to get one.
Those that are fed up with waiting have even gone to the extent of buying 500 packs purely out of frustration of waiting.
How Much Does 500 Apex Packs Cost?
Each Apex Pack costs around a dollar depending on your currency, so if you want to buy your way to an Heirloom, you'll have to spend around half a grand to do so.
Also, keep an eye out in the store for bundles that include Apex Packs! Check back often because some of these bundles contain a significant number of these packs.
Apex Legends Packs Calculator
Most of us don't really think to keep track of every single Apex Pack we open.
Well, luckily there's an online Apex Pack Calculator to help them figure out how close they may actually be to obtaining Heirloom Shards from a Pack.
The tool takes into account a multitude of different factors like:
- Account Level
- Battle Pass purchases/levels
- Daily Treasure Packs obtained
- Packs purchased
- Twitch Prime Membership
If you're like me and didn't pay much attention to these aspects since day one, then we can be sad together that we don't even know how many packs are left before getting your Heirloom.
