Apex Legends: Countdown teases gravity lifts for next week

As reported by Dot Esports, a number of players have spotted countdown timers around each of Apex’s two maps, Kings Canyon and World’s Edge.

It seems something’s going to happen around the time of the weekly reset next Tuesday at noon Pacific time.

“These things that are spread around the map since the beginning of this season started counting down,” one Redditor said. The machines are explicitly labeled as gravity lifts.

“What could be coming in six days?”

Speculation ranges from a connection with the rocket on World’s Edge to an event related to Valk, a data-mined “legend” coming to the game in the near future.

In keeping with the gravity-lift theme of verticality, Valk’s purported move set — which could always change based on pre-release testing — includes an ultimate called “Skyward.”

It sounds like it’s a way for your squad to group up and take flight like Superman, letting you escape to a safer point on the map or cross a lot of ground in a hurry.

“Press once to prepare for launch. Teammates can interact with Valk to join the launch. Press again to launch into the air and skydive,” the data-mined description reads. “Note: Vertical clearance required for flight.”

Data miner Biast12 first spoke of gravity-lift locations, keycard requirements for the grav lifts, and challenges associated with the devices back in August.

Apex season six is expected to end on November 10.
