The Animal Crossing: New Horizons Version 2.0 update has landed. The update is the biggest yet, featuring an abundance of components that fans have been requesting since the game's launch in 2020. Perhaps one of the most exciting new features is the upgrade to Harv's Island and all the shops he hosts, including Harriet's Hair Salon.

Who is Harriet?
Harriet is a pink poodle known as nothing less than the queen of hairdressing within Animal Crossing. Players of the series first met her during Wild World, but now she's back and has set up shop on Harv's Island!
Not only is she very talented with a pair of scissors, but she is a long-time friend of Harv. You can probably tell, considering the fact they both look a little like hipsters.
How to Unlock Harriet
Harv's island has expanded massively with the New Horizons Version 2.0 update. Rather than just being a hub for photography that, let's be real, nobody ever used, he now hosts what he refers to as a co-op! This means that his island now hosts various shops and traders all day, every day.
To unlock each of the traders, you must first speak to the construction foreman Gyroid known as Lloid. However, in Harriet's case, this is entirely different (and free). From the moment you step foot onto Harv's Island, her small salon station will already be unlocked in the centre of the area. There's no need to construct anything, and she'll be available for services right away!
What Does Harriet Do, and Can You Get Shampoodle
Previously, Harriet ran her own salon called Shampoodle. Here, she would customise the player's hair and eye colour, giving them their dream makeover for a small fee of bells. Unfortunately, Shampoodle has not come to New Horizons and likely won't appear anytime soon either.
This doesn't mean that Harriet's Hair Salon, consisting of a rug and chair on Harv's Plaza , is disappointing. By speaking with Harriet, she will offer to give you a random haircut for free. If you don't like your makeover, she'll revert you straight back to your old look, but the new trim is yours to keep if you like it!
After Harriet applies a new style to your character's hair, it will also be unlocked and available for you to access from a Vanity or Mirror at anytime in future. You can only use her services once per visit to Harv's Island, but they're great if you fancy a small cosmetic change or want to unlock all character customisation options!
