Square Enix Announces Free New NieR Replicant Content

There’s more new NieR Replicant differences on the way aside from enhanced graphics and a lovely new soundtrack.

Square Enix announced several pieces of additional content coming to the NieR remake, including an all-new story episode and dungeon plus the return of some familiar voices.

NieR Replicant, or NieR Replicant ver. 1.22474487139 to be official, is a retelling of the original NieR.

More specifically, it’s a retelling of the original NieR that released in Japan.

The West got NieR Gestalt, which swaps the protagonist with a gruff older man because Square believed a game about a young boy saving his sister wouldn’t sell as well as a father saving his daughter.

NieR Replicant is getting an extra episode, complete with new boss, new dungeon, and an all-new story segment.

The NieR Replicant extra episode is called Mermaid and, accordingly, revolves around a shipwreck and a mysterious young girl.

The original NieR had an extra set of dungeons as DLC called The World of Recycled Vessel.

It’s making a return as 15 Nightmares and offers new weapons and equipment for those brave enough to face its challenges.

Finally, if you just can’t imagine a NieR game without Automata, Square Enix understands.

2B’s and 9S’s voice actors make a return as certain characters in Replicant, and after you beat the game the first time, you’ll be able to swap out certain soundtrack portions with music from NieR Automata.
