ARC Raiders continues to break expectations two weeks after its launch. Now with an all-time peak player count of over 480,000, the game has never been more successful.
As players navigate through its deadly PvP and PvE mixture, they’ve also been hard at work building their Raider to optimal levels. With the help of the game’s skill-tree system, they can pick between three separate branches: Mobility, Survival, or Conditioning. The Survival branch appears to be the most recommended for all players, thanks to the overpowered ability called Security Breach.
It only took two weeks until Embark decided to nerf it, and the community isn’t too happy about it.
What Is ARC Raiders’ Overpowered Skill?
According to the community, Security Breach is considered the best skill in ARC Raiders. It is an endgame upgrade found at the tail-end of the Survival skill tree, requiring players to spend a total of 36 points to unlock it.
What Does Security Breach in ARC Raiders Do?
The Security Breach ability allows players to open heavily protected locks that take more than just standard ‘prying’ from their melee weapon. These special locks are usually found in ‘High Loot’ areas or inside places that require a keycard to unlock.
Why Was Security Breach Nerfed in ARC Raiders?
Opening a lock using Security Breach guarantees an increase in drop rates for epic purple weapons, such as the Tempest, Bettina, or Hullcrackers. Of course, its discovery had the entire playerbase’s attention. As a result, it caused a massive influx of players investing heavily into the Survival skill tree.
Unfortunately, the Security Breach’s time was over before it even began. The most powerful ability in the game has been nerfed to the ground.
As the game’s massive North Line update dropped last week, Embark made an official statement on their Discord server that confirmed the Security Breach has been nerfed. Players are no longer getting as many epic items as before, and the number of lootable items has been reduced. While it’s still a powerful skill that guarantees something good, you won’t always get a purple epic drop now.
Why Are Players Mad About This Security Breach Nerf?
Some players are mad that Embark would suddenly nerf this skill after they invested heavily into the skill tree. In ARC Raiders, respeccing or resetting your skills can only be done via a character wipe mechanic known as Expeditions. It takes a while to do it, so it’s understandable why some players got a little bit rowdy.
Embark has considered their feelings, saying that they’re already working on a way to expedite skill resets without having to worry about character wipes. There are no details yet, but it’s clear where their priorities are, given the massive North Line update.
For now, players are going to have to make do with their commitment to the Survival skill tree. It’s still the most viable path in the game until Embark decides to nerf the Conditioning branch.
