ARC Raiders continues to exceed expectations since its release on October 30. As players rummage through Topside, gathering the best loot or fleeing from dangerous Arc, they face an important decision: Which skill tree to upgrade first?
ARC Raiders has three branches in its skill tree progression: Green for Conditioning, Yellow for Mobility, and Red for Survival. Let’s weigh in on what the best skill tree to prioritize is.
What the Conditioning Skill Tree does in ARC Raiders

Conditioning is best suited if you want more opportunities across Topside.
If you love breaching, this path will be worth your while. It offers A Little Extra, which grants additional resources when breaching. You can also pair it with skills like Gentle Pressure and Proficient Pryer. The former reduces noise while breaching, while the latter significantly reduces breaching time.
Getting downed doesn’t pose too much risk either, as the conditioning tree gives you more leeway in survivability. It has perks when you are knocked down, like Downed but Determined, which makes you last longer before you collapse.
Another important skill to consider in this tree is Loaded Arms, which reduces the weight of your equipped weapon in every run, reducing the risk of being encumbered.
What the Mobility Skill Tree does in ARC Raiders

The mobility skill tree is ideal if you want to do things fast without worrying about their stamina consumption.
Some of the best perks in the tree are Marathon Runner and Youthful Lungs. Marathon Runner reduces the stamina cost when you move, and Youthful Lungs increases your overall max stamina; both make you last even longer on the battlefield. You can also pair them with Slip and Slide, which allows you to slide further and faster, making it perfect for quick getaways.
Sturdy Ankles can also help during high-pressure situations by reducing fall damage when falling from non-lethal heights.
What the Survival Skill Tree does in ARC Raiders

After several days of play and dying from PvP, many have come to realize that the survival skill tree is by far the strongest to upgrade first.
Abilities like In-Round Crafting can allow them to field-craft items while on a raid. When paired with the Traveling Tinkerer, they can craft more items when in the field.
Scavengers will also love this path, as skills like Silent Scavenger reduce noise when looting. Others, like Looter’s Luck, add more items per loot, and Looter’s Instincts shortens the looting process by revealing items faster.
Perhaps the best perk from this skill tree is Security Breach. This allows players to open security lockers from areas with high loot rewards, which are mostly accessed with a keycard. These usually contain purple weapons and items, making it well worth the investment.
The ideal way to build your character is to diversify skill distribution. Don’t just focus on one branch. Mix and match them according to your playstyle. You can start with a few yellows before going red, or you can begin with red and then add yellows and greens.
Keep in mind that respeccing or resetting skill trees is not available until your Raiders go on an Expedition, which wipes your character and restarts progress from scratch. Check out our Expedition guide for more information.
As of now, ARC Raiders continues to grow rapidly, reaching over 460,000 players on Steam just two weeks after launch.
