Marvel Rivals’ Meta Is Being Ruined by Gambit and Invisible Woman

As Marvel Rivals continues to break new ground by adding new heroes per month, the competitive matches become more unpredictable. Its meta constantly shifts, putting new heroes front and center and the older ones on the back burner.

Marvel Rivals faces two terrifying heroes in the meta: Invisible Woman and Gambit. Both are the strongest Strategists in the game, and they are ruining high-elo matches.

When Gambit arrived in Marvel Rivals Season 5.0, he was considered the best Strategist in the game thanks to his mix of offensive and defensive capabilities. His cards always have something to counteract the enemy team. With his anti-heal and healing properties, Gambit is a great pick to climb the ranks, and a good Gambit player is a dangerous one.

Now players are learning more and more about his kit and using his powerful Ultimate to swing the teamfight in their favor. This has become a frustrating thing in higher-elo matches, especially when you and your team felt like you were winning the brawl.

His Ultimate grants movement and damage boost to the rest of his team, and whenever that annoying “Gambit never folds!” voiceline comes in, you know you are in for a rough time. Being on the receiving end of a Gambit ult is a death sentence.

Gambit doesn’t really have a problem with his overall kit. It’s a perfect amalgamation of a hybrid support, but the game would benefit from nerfing his Ultimate Resource, making him less reliant on it and more on his deck of cards.

Next to characters like Daredevil and Hela, Gambit is the other most-banned hero in higher comps.

The Problem With Invisible Woman

When the Fantastic Four arrived in Marvel Rivals, it was a glorious sight. Seeing these classic Marvel heroes finally making it to the mainstream was something we haven’t seen in a long time. The whole of Marvel Rivals Season 2 brought us these four heroes into the roster, but only one of them prevailed and became meta.

Invisible Woman is the second deadliest support in the game. Not only can she effectively brawl a tank thanks to her melee passive, but she can also sustain teamfights longer by popping her ultimate, making her entire team unkillable for 5 seconds.

In Diamond Ranks and beyond, she’s often the primary target of divers like Spider-Man and Black Panther, but her defensive kit, like Psionic Vortex and Force Physics abilities, can help her win difficult 1v1s and deny their chance at elimination.

NetEase hasn’t dropped any major nerf to Sue since her launch, but she deserves a hard rework as her kit is notorious for shutting down divers with no clear weaknesses.

Ultimately, these two Strategists have become a problem in Marvel Rivals. If not for their overpowered kits, other supports like Cloak & Dagger and Jeff the Land Shark would be viable in higher ranks. Both Gambit and Invisible Woman have power crept through the game, with Gambit being the most powerful. It’s only a matter of time before NetEase drops a major balance patch that alleviates their overperforming powers.
