One of the best aspects about playing Silksong is that you get to see your character start as one of the most fragile beings before turning into the deadliest thing to exist. It is always a great feeling knowing that you're actively becoming stronger the more you play, and Hollow Knight's sequel definitely shines in that department.
But no matter how strong you get, the game will do something to strip nearly all the power you've accumulated away. That moment comes when players are first introduced to The Slab, an area of Pharloom that many players will likely reach accidentally and be surprised by.
At some point in the game, players have a chance of being captured and taken to this location. As soon as they arrive, they'll notice the shocking consequences of being forced into this area: Hornet has absolutely nothing. While she retains her health and some abilities, everything from the tools to even her trusty Needle is missing.

This places players in a position they have never been in before, one that involves them being as close to defenseless as possible, and I think that makes The Slab the best part about Silksong. Again, the game does a magnificent job in helping you become much stronger as you progress, and at a certain point, you'll feel accustomed to having all that power at your disposal.
However, what would happen if all the things you've been building towards just disappear? It's a question that players don't expect to have to answer, mostly because it's usually not done right. However, Silksong asks it exceptionally well, and it's all thanks to The Slab.
Being stripped down to nothing, not even the clothes on your back, can be a game's way of making you feel hopeless, but it's also a way to test your skills. Now that Hornet has no way to defend herself, barring being able to kick opponents and doing the most minimal damage, it's up to the player to figure out how she can survive while attempting to get all of her power back.

Trying to do that in The Slab feels amazing, as Team Cherry perfectly designed the area to accommodate the lack of abilities and tools, and overcoming the frozen wasteland will depend entirely on how the player approaches it. Another thing that makes the place so great is that it's somewhat large in scale and maze-like, emphasizing that players will have to put in the effort if they want to regain what they've lost.
For those of you who are worrying that it's going to be too much of a challenge, I'll tell you that it isn't and that its difficulty hits the right sweet spot. It's not too easy to the point that anybody can just steamroll through it, but it also isn't too hard that people might get stuck on it.
The Slab is definitely one of the best things about Silksong, and it's an area that players should consider being dragged to. You have the option to avoid it, but you'd be doing yourself a disservice should you choose to do so.
