Battlefield 6 XP Farm Lobbies: The Risk of Getting Banned and New Progression Restrictions

Battlefield 6 has only been out for just under two weeks, and developers have already made a bunch of significant changes based on player feedback.

Some of the most notable adjustments so far have centered on XP, with rank, weapon, and assignments all receiving a welcome boost to speed up progression. However, Portal has become the latest area of focus for Battlefield Studios after restrictions were put in place for XP farm lobbies.

Farming lobbies have dominated the Portal space in BF6 since launch, with modified servers allowing players to earn easy kills, farm XP, and complete missions against bots. Despite the recent changes to XP, many are still turning to these farm bot lobbies for an easier experience, but does it come with a risk of getting banned? Let's take a look.

Can You Get Banned for Joining XP Farm Lobbies in BF6?

The chances of receiving an outright ban for joining an XP farm lobby in Battlefield 6 are low, but there are still some major changes and risks you should be aware of.

Devs have now effectively nerfed XP farming via bot-filled custom lobbies in BF6’s Portal mode. If you join a server with bots enabled, which are primarily used for easy kills and XP farming, it will no longer reward Mastery XP or count toward challenges.

Players will still get a 150% match completion bonus, but progression for weapons and attachments is now disabled in bot-filled servers. As mentioned above, the majority of bot lobbies were being used so players could rapidly farm stats and unlocks rather than progress naturally. While EA said they “completely understand” why these lobbies were being utilized, it was considered a misuse of the mode and affected the broader player experience.

Although bans for joining XP farm lobbies haven’t been widely reported, it doesn’t mean the risk is zero. The misuse of any system could eventually trigger disciplinary action, and there’s a potential reputational or detection risk if you’re perceived to be boosting, abusing, or colluding with others to gain unfair progression.

Personally, I’d avoid joining custom lobbies with bots that exist only for XP and unlock farming. Your best bet, especially after the latest set of restrictions, is to opt for official matchmaking modes to ensure your progression for XP, Mastery, and challenges all count as intended.

While I get the incentive of XP farming lobbies, the recent adjustments to progression speeds make them pretty pointless now anyway, and you will get much more satisfaction from completing challenges against real players.
