Battlefield 6 has impressed fans of the long-running EA franchise, with many calling it a return to form for the series. After the double dose of disappointment with BF 2042 and BF5, this is the game fans needed to regain some faith. However, this has backfired somewhat, as going back to its roots has also made fans return to Battlefield 4.
While fans are pretty excited about the future of BF6, many have also concluded that BF4 is the better game, and they might just stick with that old entry. Obviously, not all fans will be doing that, but we’re sure that some hardcore BF4 players will stick with that entry till it dies.
KFded posted about his experience with Battlefield 6 on Reddit and how it changed after replaying BF4. This is partially because EA has added Secure Boot to the new entry, which has made it a lot harder to play on some computers. Plus, a lot of the things fans like from BF6 are already in BF4, making it feel like a complete game already.
Dazzling-Turn3079 has also compared the two games on Reddit, feeling that Battlefield 4 is the superior experience. This user is a little harsh towards BF6, claiming that it’s just BF 2042 with a modern reskin. Considering how much fans adore BF6 and hate BF 2042, this might be seen as an overreaction, but the user is allowed to feel this way if they want.
Even with that, it seems that Battlefield 4 has cast a long shadow and is right under it. That’s the problem with going back, as a game from its past has already perfected those mechanics and is perfectly playable as is. Obviously, fans are hoping that BF6 lives up to all the hype and ends up being an excellent military shooter, but we’ll have to wait and see.
At least it’s not doing the whole crossover shindig like Call of Duty and Fortnite are.
