Battlefield 6 continues to be a huge talking point amongst fans, as gameplay footage has given them a great preview of what’s to come. The military shooter has been able to impress fans with its huge maps and plenty of destruction, making it a solid competitor to Call of Duty. Surprisingly, this game is still being made with EA’s Frostbite engine, putting the graphics engine to good use.
David Sirland, the lead producer of DICE, has said that the destruction fans see in the game can only be done with EA’s controversial Frostbite engine. This is a graphics engine that EA has invested many years in, so it’s not too surprising to see them keep it here. Sirland even says “generic” engines like Unreal can’t handle this amount of destruction.
Seeing Battlefield 6 utilize this engine so well makes players think that Frostbite might have been made ahead of its time. The graphics engine looks great, but it has caused some issues with previous EA games. Fans will remember how messy Mass Effect: Andromeda was at launch, as it took several patches to make that RPG more playable.

Luckily, Battlefield 6 doesn’t seem to be experiencing those issues based on what we've seen so far. Obviously, this game requires a fairly beefy PC, so don’t bother playing this game on Steam Deck, but fans prepared for this shooter shouldn’t have any major drops. We also assume that the current-gen console versions will play well and should be a fun test for the PS5 Pro.
Overall, Battlefield 6 is going to be a force of nature when it comes out on October 10 later this year. Fans who want a taste of the open beta can do so through Twitch with our guide here.
