Expeditions are ARC Raiders’ only way to reset their character progression, putting them back to zero. The catch? Permanent upgrades, such as increased stash sizes and cosmetics, can be yours, provided you have everything needed. But why is everyone not happy with this?
ARC Raiders Permanent Unlocks After an Expedition
The allure of wiping your character and starting from scratch is these permanent unlocks. These are instant unlocks after creating your new character and entering Speranza. Here are the upgrades your Raider will receive after an Expedition:

- +1 Skill Point (for every 1 million value in your stash)
Why Players Dislike ARC Raiders’ Expedition System
While the permanent unlocks may sound good on paper, players are not convinced that wiping almost everything they worked hard for (like learned blueprints, stash items, and skills) is worth the small percentage bump in Expedition upgrades.
The ARC Raiders subreddit and Discord server already had players speak up about it the moment they saw the real numbers behind the permanent unlocks. The general consensus is that almost everyone agrees the rewards are simply not worth the risk of starting over from scratch.
Perhaps the biggest issue here is the extra skill point, which only unlocks after players have hoarded a million Creds in their stash after going on an Expedition. This goes against everything ARC Raiders stands for, as it encourages severe hoarding.
Embark has stated before that character wipes or Expeditions are “respecting your time investment in the game.” The fact that most players are unhappy about the Expeditions proves that the studio failed to see the bigger picture. What do you mean that 12 extra stash bonuses are worth more than an unlocked Wolfpack, Anvil, and Venator blueprints?
What Players Want in ARC Raiders Expedition System
The ARC Raiders community is already devising its own solutions to make Expeditions worth it. Players suggested that going on one should automatically reward the extra skill points rather than grinding and hoarding. Alternatively, Embark needs to find another way for players to respec their skill tree without Expeditions.
Others even mentioned that players should at least take a selection of unlocked Blueprints with them to carry over on their next run. This alleviates the frustration of searching for the blueprints again in an increasingly hostile PvP environment.
To put it simply, ARC Raiders’ Expedition rewards aren’t in a great place. They strip away hard-earned progression without offering much value in return through their permanent upgrades. Right now, many players are deciding to skip Expeditions entirely until Embark finds a way to make the rewards more appealing.
