Rockstar Games To Improve Load Times Thanks To GTA Online Modder

Rockstar Games has confirmed to PC Gamer that a fan-made solution to GTA Online's abysmal loading times will become official in a forthcoming update.

This comes off the tail-end of a GTA Online player coming up with a solution to improve load times by up to 70%.

Here is all you need to know!

Fix

GTA Online's infamously long loading times have been the subject of the community's ire, and as it's grown, it's not getting any better.

That led one modder to take matters into their own hands and essentially create a new piece of software to reduce loading times by a whopping 70%.

T0ST published their findings online, along with guidance on how to implement the fix.

The root of the issue is the 63,000 items that form the game world and need to be parsed one-by-one when loading into the game.

Once parsed, Rockstar's code then runs a de-duplication routine, so that's a lot of work that takes time.

T0ST has been able to put together a .dll file that can be dropped into GTA Online that makes parsing easier, and crucially, much faster.

You can download it here, but it appears Rockstar has taken an interest in this mod and will be updating the game soon with these improvements.

Now, Rockstar has provided the following comment to PC Gamer which confirms a future update!

After a thorough investigation, we can confirm that player t0st did, in fact, reveal an aspect of the game code related to load times for the PC version of GTA Online that could be improved," the company said in a statement. "As a result of these investigations, we have made some changes that will be implemented in a forthcoming title update
