2. The NPCs
Those who have played Grand Theft Auto 4 before will likely remember just how good its NPCs were. Rockstar Games managed to make them feel as if they were actual human beings, given the way they can react and interact to all the different things around them.
They'll open up an umbrella or run for cover when it starts raining, engage in fights even without you instigating them, enter fetal positions if they're too scared to run away, etc. When compared to the NPCs of the other entries, those of Grand Theft Auto 4 are much more interesting, given all the different actions they can perform that are worth seeing even now.
3. The Compelling Narrative
Grand Theft Auto 4's story is considered to be the darkest among all of the games, but that's actually a good thing. The more depressing and gritty tone is perfect considering the setting that has to be worked with, and every character involved in the narrative, from protagonist Niko to cousin Roman, is interesting enough that you'll always pay attention to what they have to say.
Rockstar Games even created DLC that allows people to play the game from the perspective of new main characters, providing more entertaining moments that make the effort of taking in the overall plot even more worth it.
Highly consider revisiting GTA 4 instead of the other entries if you plan on playing any of the games of the series today. It has a lot to offer despite being over a decade old, and you will not be disappointed if you take a chance on it.
