Good news, Monster Hunter Wilds’ performance issues are fixed. Bad news? It’s not from Capcom.
Thanks to a talented bunch of dedicated players, someone has found a temporary workaround for Capcom’s unoptimized action RPG.
What Was Causing Monster Hunter Wilds’ Performance Issues on PC?

Digital Foundry pointed out that the game’s aggressive DirectStorage’s decompression system is the source behind Monster Hunter Wilds’ abysmal performance in mid-range PCs. Players with 8 GB cards have been frustrated with the game’s lack of meaningful fixes, causing a massive exodus of players moving on to other games.
How to Apply the Monster Hunter Wilds Performance Fix on PC
Here’s how to apply the mod:
- Use the latest version of RE Framework to install the mod.
- Enable the “Loose File Loader” option in RE Framework’s menu.
- Run the latest version of MHW Tex Decompressor that comes with the mod.
- Start Monster Hunter Wilds normally.
What Does the Mod Do for Monster Hunter Wilds’ Performance Issues?

According to Digital Foundry, this mod replaces the default GDeflate-compressed texture assets (whatever that means) with full, uncompressed files. Digital Foundry even had strong confirmation that it indeed works. It dramatically improves performance and frame stability for mid-range systems.
A Ryzen 7 9800X3D/RTX 4060 at high textures would normally get 33 frames before the mod. Now, it gets a major boost in performance, with frames hitting green most of the time. It’s literally a night and day difference. Digital Foundry found out that camera movements become smooth with no stutters, and frame-time spikes have simply vanished.
While this may seem like a neat fix for the game’s lingering technical issues, there’s actually a downside to this. The uncompressed textures will take up more space, increasing the game’s storage from around 24 GB to 41 GB. Make sure you’ve removed unnecessary titles in your storage if you want to maximize your Monster Hunter Wilds performance.
When Will Capcom Fix Monster Hunter Wilds’ PC Performance Issues?

Since its launch in February 2025, Monster Hunter Wilds’ PC version hasn’t been the most optimized. Mid-range PCs with an 8 GB CPU were still having a tough time playing the game, encountering stuttering and texture pop-ins that soured the experience.
Capcom has, of course, addressed these issues time and time again and promises a major fix in the game’s upcoming free Title Update 4 this December 16. The update will also include the highly anticipated raid boss Gogmazios and a massive rework to its endgame grinding system. Artian Weapons will also see a change in viability, so hunters better be prepared.
In the meantime, this band-aid fix for PC players will greatly reduce frustration over the game’s performance issues.
