The release of Pokemon Legends Z-A came with the return of Mega Evolutions. There are now almost 40 Mega forms, 27 of which are newly-added. It was really exciting to see brand-new forms like Malamar, Dragonite, and Hawlucha. Cool new lore, designs, and marketing just hyped the fandom.
The heartbreaking part? As players start to uncover the full list of new Mega forms, Flygon is not part of the ones to get the epic treatment. When will our favorite desert dragon get the love and taste the urban air of Lumiose City?
Is Mega Flygon Available in Pokemon Legends Z-A?
I hate to admit this but the painful, sand-lacking answer is no. As of this moment, Mega Flygon is not in Pokemon Legends Z-A. In fact, the whole Trapinch line is not on the game and that's just sad and unfair for the epic antlion family.
Lumiose would look really awesome to have a Flygon, moreover a Mega Flygon, soaring in its concrete jungle but alas, not today.

For many years, fans have been begging Game Freak and imagining a Mega form for Flygon in their hopeful minds. Flygon is just a sleek-while-being-cute dragon standout with its elegant form and its adorable red-goggled eyes. Truly a Generation 3 icon.
Right now, it is the only Dragon-type Pokemon from the islands of Hoenn that doesn't have a Mega Evolution yet. Salamence, Altaria, and even the originally not dragon type Sceptile all have their Megas but Flygon? Still nada.

What really hurts is Mega Flygon makes perfect sense to make an appearance in Pokemon Legends Z-A. Flygon's line, Trapinch and Vibrava were widely available in Pokemon X and Y in the deserted Power Plant area. With that access, Flygon was a popular member of many Kalos players in the 3DS.
Legends Z-A reintroduced Mega Evolution while also boasting multiple, varied Wild Zones, one of which featured Pokemon that make desert their home. It was right there, Game Freak! As players start to fully unearth the full Legends Z-A Pokedex, the Trapinch family wasn't anywhere. Disappointing, indeed.

If we are to speculate, one reason why Game Freak might have made the unnecessary Flygon skip is due to the setting and plotline of Pokemon Legends Z-A itself. There's the urban redevelopment concept of Lumiose City, which isn't the original home of Trapinch in the Generation 6 games to catch them in. Still, it makes no sense because the Wild Zones are full of diversed Pokemon.
In line with this, the aforementioned redevelopment program, narrative-wise, might have caused a biome displacement with many Pokemon in Kalos so barren, unused areas have been modernized, kicking out its original settlers. If that is the case, it's a sad and scary thought.

Now, what's even scarier is that Flygon isn't totally gone because it was intentionally cut from the game so that it can, for now, live in DLC hell. With Game Freak's recent practice, it is easy to suspect that the Flygon line and its Mega Stone is currently locked behind the announced Mega Dimension expansion pack.
If this is true, that's a 30-dollar entry fee to have access to Flygon and its long-deserved Mega Form. Unethical?Very! But is it a smart business decision? It probably is because the idea of Mega Flygon in fans' teams while flying around or drinking coffee with them is just too good to pass up.

Historically, Pokemon and Game Freak have always been this way. We have witnessed many Pokemon who are considered fan-faves, get DLC glow-up to make more sales. The cool Galarian legendary birds and the competitively necessary Urshifu were all locked behind a paywall.
The same strategy might be in play here and the frustrating part is it actually works for Game Freak. Just wait, once Game Freak finally releases that teaser of Mega Flygon online, watch Pokemon players go insane. But to be fair, Flygon really deserves more love and attention.

Some would argue that the missing Mega Form of Flygon is what makes it extra special. I mean, isn't it amazing that Flygon hasn't received any special treatments lately but the love for it from fans still blazes like the scorching winds of the Hoenn deserts? With every new game Pokemon release, Flygon is part of a wishlist of some kind.

So yeah, Mega Flygon is not among us yet because Pokemon Legends Z-A's theme may have complicated its compatibility to be part of the title. Again, at least as of this moment. Some fans would try to cope by saying that maybe Flygon doesn't have Mega Evolution or any special forms because Flygon is already visually and conceptually perfect. While that may be true, we still want to see Flygon be given more. Until then, we'll keep waiting or to some, start saving money for the eventual release of the DLC.
