How to Get and Use Glassrock in Hades 2

Hades 2

In Hades 2, Glassrock (shown as G-Rock in menus) is a fairly challenging material to collect. It’s a dark, glass-like mineral that powers major upgrades, from new weapons to Aspects and tool boosts.

Because it only appears in a late-game area and doesn’t show up every run, you’ll need some preparation and patience to stockpile it.

Where Can You Find Glassrock?

You won’t see Glassrock until you make it deep into the Fields of Mourning, the third region along the Underworld path.

To reach it, you must first finish Erebus and Oceanus and overcome Scylla and the Sirens at the end of Oceanus.

Only after pushing through these challenges will you enter the wide, somber Fields where the ore can appear.

This zone is relatively short compared to earlier areas, with large open chambers instead of many small rooms.

That means fewer overall encounters and, unfortunately, fewer chances for mining nodes to spawn.

Runs that reach the Fields can sometimes be completely dry on Glassrock, so it’s normal to come up empty.

How Do You Mine Glassrock?

Before you head out to farm Glassrock, it’s best to first craft the Crescent Pick at the Silver Pool, which only costs one Ash to unlock.

This tool lets you mine the jagged, obsidian-colored outcroppings that contain Glassrock. When you find a vein, strike it three times to fully break it and usually collect three pieces.

To make your gathering runs more efficient, consider taking several helpful steps.

Using the Reagent Sensing incantation at the start of a run makes a soft chime play and spawns a guiding sprite after every cleared room to lead you toward reagents like Glassrock.

Bringing Raki the White Raven can also improve your chances.

If you’ve unlocked the Bravery of Familiar Spirits incantation and bonded with Raki, he can increase the number of ore nodes that spawn and even help you mine them faster.

Feeding him Witch’s Delight treats powers up his Stone Bond skill to increase his value in runs.

Chaos Boons, such as Fixed Discovery or Ordinary Discovery, can boost how many resources each node gives, but you’ll have to handle their short-term penalties first.

What Is Glassrock Used For?

Glassrock is an important material for late-game progress, and one of the first things it is needed for is upgrading the Crescent Pick to Rank II, which takes several pieces and Iron to improve mining.

It’s also essential for unlocking the Argent Skull weapon, where it’s combined with other metals such as Bronze or Iron. Glassrock is part of Weapon Aspects that determine your fighting style.

The Aspect of Artemis for the Sister Blades calls for Glassrock alongside a large amount of Silver, while the Aspect of Thanatos for the Moonstone Axe needs several pieces of Glassrock and Nightshade.

Some sources also mention that the Aspect of Melinoë for the Argent Skull requires Glassrock and Bronze.

Because upgrades often require the same materials, such as using Glassrock to enhance your pick and craft endgame weapons, it’s best to collect extra.
