Hollow Knight: Silksong has not disappointed fans. The challenging Metroidvania has surpassed expectations and become another huge hit for Team Cherry. Anyone who has played the original Hollow Knight was expecting to face challenging boss fights in the sequel, and so far, each one has been a huge challenge, outside of the really early ones.
Lace has quickly become one of Hollow Knight: Silksong’s most popular characters and is a pretty challenging boss in her own right. Despite being one of the early bosses, fans who aren’t prepared will get decimated fairly quickly, especially if they love mashing the attack button. She might be an early boss, but don’t underestimate her; Lace is a serious threat.
How do you beat Lace? Will you be pulling your hair out of frustration? Read on and find out.
Where is Lace in Hollow Knight: Silksong?
Players can find Lace in the center-east area of the Deep Docks. Luckily, her fight is near a manhole with a save bench and the Forge Daughter, so players will be able to record their progress and recover all of their health before starting this fight.
Before you head off to fight Lace, make sure you have enough meter to heal your health. Although you can get some meter by fighting the boss, some of her attacks can do plenty of damage, so make sure to have some handy. This might sound like basic advice, but when she hits Hornet, fans will wish they had some health handy.
How To Beat Lace in Silksong?
Lace is the first Hollow Knight: Silksong boss to have counters for your attacks, so make sure not to start slashing at her mindlessly. Be patient, wait for her openings, and dish out some big damage before getting out and dodging her attacks.

Here are some of the attacks Lace will do during the fight, so watch out for them and time your strikes:
- Rapier Thrust: A basic charge attack that’s easy to dodge, then follow up with a dive hit. She will do an additional hit after the charge during the second phase, so be ready for that.
- Diving Thrust: Like Hornet, Lace has a diving attack of her own that can do plenty of damage. Luckily, this is choreographed by her crouching, so make sure to dash away as she jumps, then attack her from behind once she’s on the ground.
- Delayed Combo Attack: Lace will do a two-hit combo before delaying her third attack. Theoretically, players can attack her after the second hit and then dodge he third one, but it’s better if they just wait for all three attacks.
- Parry Attack: Her deadliest attack. If Lace brings up her sword, avoid her like the plague because she will quickly follow-up with a flurry of sword swings. Attacking Lace while her sword is up will result in you getting hit, so dash away.
- Star Lace: This is an attack Lace only does during her second phase of the fight. She will crouch and start glowing, before unleashing a star light in the arena. Lace will then head to the star and do a combo attack that can deal a ton of damage. Make sure to avoid the star’s light, then heal.
Just follow this method, and you should be able to beat Lace in no time. Be patient, because her attacks will hurt a lot, especially her parry combo. As long as you time your dashes and attacks, this should be Lace’s last stand in Hollow Knight: Silksong.
