Helldivers 2 is a third-person shooter that offers a ton of fun for both casual and hardcore gamers. The reason the game can cater to both is that it presents them with the option to choose the level of difficulty they would like to face, guaranteeing they get the easiest or most difficult experience possible.
Eventually, those who are on the more casual side will likely want to try the higher difficulties of Helldivers 2, as they'll think there's more to gain from doing so. As someone who has played the game since launch, I can say that while they do offer more of a challenge, there's more incentive to stay on the game's easier side.
Some of you may question that, especially since the chaos of something like Super Helldive can lead to enjoyable and memorable moments. Although higher difficulties provide that, what they also do is increase the chances of you failing missions.
Now, that doesn't sound too bad on its own, but if I were to tell you that it would mean losing out on more opportunities to collect both Super Credits and Samples, then that's where you might start seeing the problem.

When choosing to go for the harder modes, every Terminid, Automaton, and Illuminate unit will come in larger waves and will be more aggressive than ever. Because of how much more of a nuisance they can be, you'll likely be fighting for your lives on most occasions, and that means not having time to get the game's biggest rewards.
This is especially true when it comes to Sample collecting. Let's say you managed to acquire a decent amount of them and are ready to bring them to the extraction point. If you and your team fail the mission at any stage, you lose everything you've collected so far, which also means wasted time and effort.
That isn't an issue in the game's lower difficulties, as the factions of Helldivers 2 are more subdued, allowing you to farm away all the resources you need without worry. Not having to look out for threats as much also means you can finish missions faster, granting you even more opportunities to collect the things needed to access amazing rewards like Warbonds or additional ship upgrades.

Also, while the easier side doesn't have the chaotic fun that enemies from the higher difficulties grant, that doesn't mean it's devoid of any enjoyable moments. Faction units can still end up surprising you with their movements and attacks, and teammates can still be unpredictable with how they act, guaranteeing that there will still be memorable moments to be had.
With all that said, I strongly believe that playing on Helldivers 2's lower difficulties is more worthwhile, as there's more to gain from doing so. You don't even miss out on much if you choose them over the harder ones, and you'll likely have a better experience with the game.
