Helldivers 2: Other Franchises It Can Possibly Collaborate With Beyond Halo

Ever since the release of Helldivers 2 in 2024, the game has achieved such a high level status that it is now collaborating with major third-party franchises, Halo 3: ODST being the most recent and perfect example.

The Halo crossover has certainly brought in a lot of great content, so good that it has convinced more people to want to play Helldivers 2. Given how successful it seems to be with fans, one has to wonder about the other potential franchises that can be collaborated with. There are so many ideal candidates, but a select few seem to have the most promise when considering how well they would mesh with the world of Helldivers 2 and what they could do for the game.

1. Gears of War

If the Halo crossover got Xbox players excited to play Helldivers 2, then one with Gears of War would make them even more ecstatic to join in on the galactic war. Thematically, it would make sense for it to happen, given how both have gritty and blood-soaked gameplay and could potentially share the same universe.

Plus, one cannot deny how cool it would be to bring in the Mark 2 Lancer Assault Rifle, aka the chainsaw gun, and use it to shred everything down to the bone. There's a lot of potential with a Gears of War crossover, and given how Helldivers 2 has already done one with another huge Xbox IP, it has a good chance of happening.

2. Mass Effect

Out of all the sci-fi franchises, Mass Effect is the one that has a lot of possibilities in terms of what content it could bring to Helldivers 2. Considering that its gameplay has many different alien races, each with its own weapons and armor, a crossover would certainly be one of the most interesting.

Also, there's a chance of doing recurring collaborations, considering that Mass Effect has so much that it would be a waste for Helldivers 2 to work with the franchise only once. If it happens, there's a chance that it may even end up with new alien races, both friendly and hostile, being added to Arrowhead Game Studios' creation, further expanding the scope of the galactic war and immersing players into it.

3. Dead Space

Given all the terrifying enemies that one can encounter in Helldivers 2, the game is surprisingly lacking when it comes to the horror element. If there's one way to fix that problem, then it's by doing a crossover with one of the scariest sci-fi franchises, Dead Space.

While such a collaboration would bring in amazing weapons, armor, and skins, it also has the potential to introduce new gameplay. Space stations could be implemented, where players must traverse through enclosed spaces and deal with enemies that reside in them, similar to how they would have in Dead Space. Not only would this make Helldivers 2 more terrifying, but it would also provide a fresh new way to enjoy the game, making such a crossover something that Arrowhead Game Studios should highly consider in making happen.

4. Destiny

While a crossover with Destiny could provide Helldivers 2 with some of the most futuristic and coolest-looking armor in the game, that's not the only reason why it should happen. It has the potential to provide a new gameplay element, one that involves players picking different classes that suit their playstyle.

The Hunter, Titan, and Warlock classes of Destiny could be carried over to Helldivers 2, allowing for more diverse options on how to deal with the different threats involved in the galactic world. While it would make for a dramatic shift in terms of how the game is played, there's no denying that it would make things more interesting and engaging, making a Destiny crossover something to look forward to.

5. StarCraft

If Helldivers 2 really wants to take its galactic war a step further in terms of world-building and immersion, then it should consider collaborating with one of the best sci-fi games of all time, StarCraft. The introduction of the Terrans, Zerg, and Protoss would not only make the in-game universe feel so much bigger, but it could also raise implications of other races joining in on the fight, further expanding the possibilities of future crossovers.

Should that seem too difficult to implement into Helldivers 2, the collaboration with StarCraft can at least lead to some very aesthetically pleasing skins, armor, and weapons, making it something that Arrowhead Game Studios should push to happen.

Everything listed would be Helldivers 2 crossovers that can excite and satisfy fans if realized, but in the end, there's no telling who the game could end up working with in the future. Hopefully, Arrowhead Game Studios at least considers them, as they have too much potential to be ignored.
