Those who chose to take on Hades 2 likely quickly realized that the game can get very challenging. It does not hold back in dishing out enemies that are tough to deal with, and players, especially those without experience with roguelikes, can find themselves losing many runs because of them.
If you happen to be one of those people, you've likely wondered what it is that you need to achieve victory. Do you have to try out more Nocturnal Arms? Should you upgrade your Arcanas? While those can help, I believe there is something better, and it comes in the form of a Goddess.
The one in particular that I am talking about is Aphrodite, and much like what she did in the original Hades, she can provide you with the greatest tool necessary to clear any run you decide to do: the Weak curse. This one status effect makes it close to impossible for you to lose a run, and it's because of what it does to enemies.

Those who are unfortunate enough to receive the affliction through your Cast, Special moves, or Dash will have their damage reduced by 30%, which means they'll hit less hard than they're supposed to. Having enemies weakened grants you more opportunities to stay alive, and can greatly impact how you take on the game's toughest bosses.
Normally, you'd likely be more hesitant facing off against someone like Chronos or Typhone, as the two can quickly get rid of whatever health and Death Defiances you have with their powerful blows. However, with Aphrodite weakening the amount of damage they do, you'll likely be more confident in facing them head-on, which can be the key difference between succeeding or failing a run.
But let's say you're still not convinced and that the 30% damage reduction isn't enough. You may change your mind when you learn that the Weak status effect can be improved even further, with an additional benefit that can make you stronger.
This comes from two Boons from the Olympian, the Broken Resolve and Sweet Surrender. The former increases the potency of the Weak status effect by as much as an additional 16%, which means that enemies will be hitting close to half the damage they usually do.

The latter allows you to dish out attacks that hurt more to afflicted foes, with the Boon ensuring that they take a 25% increase in pain from your hits when fully upgraded. With the two combined, that means not only will enemies be less threatening, but you'll also be more menacing to them, making every night much easier than it's supposed to be.
So, if you're having any trouble finishing a run in Hades 2, remember that Aphrodite can be the greatest solution to that problem. If you choose to have her on your side often, then whether it's the Undeworld or the Surface, you'll be able to beat them. Just remember that she doesn't grant you invincibility, so you could still lose a run with her if you get too carried away.
