Over the weekend, DICE added a new game mode for Battlefield 6's multiplayer titled Casual Breakthrough. Those who have played Call of Duty recently will know what this mode is about instantly, as the word "Casual" is key.

For those who don't, Casual Breakthrough is a variation of Breakthrough where the lobby is filled with 16 real players and 32 bots. The teams are comprised of 8 real players and 16 bots, and the other rules for this mode remain the same.

Casual Breakthrough can only take place on the maps Siege of Cairo and Empire State, and players won't be able to get dogtags, accolades, or receive career updates after playing the mode.

As we mentioned, Battlefield is not the first franchise that join this trend of adding modes where bots are utilized to make the experience more friendly towards non-experienced players. Call of Duty Warzone has Casual modes, where lobbies are partly filled with bots, and Fortnite also offers this option in its battle royale experience.

Many users expressed their concerns about this addition right after it was announced. Some say that developers should focus on addressing other aspects of the game, and one user is "Mainly worried about splitting the player base." There are also neutral and positive comments, of course, with some welcoming this addition to whoever wants to play it.

This new game mode arrives just days after the launch of Battlefield REDSEC, which has also seen a mixed reception on Steam after players started voicing their concerns about challenges that are forcing users to play the battle royale, or simply because they think this mode doesn't belong in the franchise.

Battlefield 6 has certainly attracted more users than ever in the franchise's history, and that has led to clashes of different ideas or opinions about how the game should be and its trajectory.

Season 1 is now available, and more content is on the way, as the season will be divided into three phases, each one bringing new stuff. For more information about the roadmap of Season 1, you can go here.
