Between August 18 and October 7, 2025, EA’s Update 9.2 closes out Battlefield 2042 while setting the stage for Battlefield 6.
This update is not a small patch but a full send-off for 2042 that adds a new battle pass, classic content, weapons, vehicles, and cross-rewards that carry into the next game.
At the core of the event is a 60-tier free battle pass. Unlike premium passes of the past, this one is free for everyone.
It’s designed as a thank-you tour through Battlefield’s greatest hits. As players level up, they unlock over 50 rewards for Battlefield 2042 itself.
How Do You Unlock the Free Rewards Pass?
The rewards are easy to earn since the pass is free for everyone, and progress is tied to experience points gained in matches.
Every move in the game adds to your XP, whether it’s a kill, capture, assist, or revive, and that XP pushes you up the tiers.
If you stay on top of weekly missions, you’ll move through the pass fast, and the bonus challenges make it even quicker.
This means that as long as you play consistently during the event window, you’ll gradually unlock cosmetics without needing to spend money or complete overly grindy tasks.
For example, reaching tier ten might unlock a vehicle skin, and hitting tier fifteen could add a soldier cosmetic.
The exact rewards shift as you climb, but all of them are earned in the same way — by playing matches and gaining enough XP to reach the next tier.
Out of the sixty tiers in the pass, more than fifty rewards are designed exclusively for Battlefield 2042.
These include operator skins, weapon camos, vehicle cosmetics, and emblems inspired by earlier titles such as Battlefield 1, Battlefield V, Bad Company 2, Battlefield 3, and Battlefield 4.
