AdHoc, Give Us an Endless Dispatching Mode for Dispatch

Dispatch

Dispatch

Dispatch may be over, but I miss every minute of it. I had plans to replay the game, but I want to at least come to terms with the decisions I’ve made. It seems like a fitting choice to just let it linger in my memory until my next playthrough in a few months or so.

While I won’t be touching the game for quite a while, I was hoping AdHoc would add an update that gives us an endless dispatching mode.

It’s not my favorite form of gameplay in a narrative-focused game, but it somehow works. Selecting superheroes to take on 911 crisis calls and hoping they succeed was something I didn’t expect to enjoy. Sending Sonar to save a kitty from a tree or ordering Malevola to grab a cup of coffee for Mr. Vanderstank were some of my favorite moments. I wanted more of it.

An endless dispatching mode would be a welcome addition to Dispatch. It doesn’t have to be like the scripted event we see in every episode, where it transitions into a story mode. Rather, it should be simple and straightforward, free from Shroud’s threat. My other reason for wanting it added is that I just want to spend more time with the Z-Team and hear their constant bickering behind the screen.

AdHoc should introduce a New Game+ with all my hard-earned upgrades preserved, as there were some missions that I clearly missed out on due to a terrible stat check and my bad judgment. There was one particular villain I failed to capture, and I hate to start over from scratch just to take him down.

New Game+ would benefit Dispatch tenfold. While it’s a story-focused game first and foremost, AdHoc is now swimming in money after selling over a million copies since launch. It would be silly for AdHoc not to strike while the iron is hot. A DLC with an endless dispatching mode would bring players back, at least me anyway.

An endless dispatching mode would also work wonders if AdHoc sprinkles in a little bit of a roguelike twist to keep things fresh. Robert (or maybe Galen) would have to pick between a select pool of heroes every shift. Crimes can escalate rapidly, especially with supervillains like El Diablo terrorizing California.

While everyone is waiting for that inevitable season 2 to drop, I’m hoping that AdHoc does something more about its dispatching gameplay. It’s just too fun to completely ignore.

But for now, let’s give AdHoc their well-deserved vacation time. In the meantime, we’ll have to make do with watching other people play the game and live vicariously through their reactions.
