Among Nintendo's many franchises, The Legend of Zelda is undoubtedly one of the most popular and beloved. Spawning generational games, all of which consist of defining qualities that have attracted countless fans.

The Legend of Zelda franchise is also known for taking risks, as it has instances of trying to take on different genres and innovating them. There are many examples where it has found success doing so, with great examples being the hack-and-slash Hyrule Warriors games and the open-world titan, Breath of the Wild.

Given that The Legend of Zelda can seemingly make nearly any genre it tackles work, there may be one it should consider trying that it has yet to do so: farming simulation. It wouldn't be an odd choice, as the franchise would likely make a fantastic game out of it. Additionally, several reasons justify why it should.

To start, the franchise has experimented with various art styles, most of which would be well-suited for a farming simulator game. It could take on the simple and cute design of Echoes of Wisdom, the cartoonish look of The Wind Waker, or even the painterly aesthetic of the previously mentioned Breath of the Wild.

Another is that it wouldn't be hard to put in characters that people can easily connect with into the game. There are many iconic Zelda characters, a majority of whom have designs and personalities that have managed to charm an immeasurable number of players.

It can even be said that it would be criminal if the franchise didn't take advantage of its characters to create a farming simulation game, as memorable ones like Talon, Ingo, Cremia, and Malon were all part of a ranch. They're already there and well-liked, so it would make sense to reuse and turn them into valuable assets.

The final reason I think a Zelda farming-simulator game would be amazing is due to the massive scope of the franchise's in-game universe. If it were to take place in Hyrule alone, the size of the kingdom would guarantee that there would be numerous areas that would make for perfect playable areas.

Players could start by creating a farm within Kakariko village, then expand it to trade crops with merchants over at Gerudo Town for other goods, then move on to places like the Goron Village, Korok Forest, etc. There are many possibilities, all of which would make for interesting areas to visit, with numerous established items that perfectly give them their identity.

Creating a farming simulator that allows players to do business in multiple kingdoms would also be possible, as the franchise has established numerous modes of transportation that allow for it. Whether it's through the sea via the boat feature established in Phantom Hourglass or the earth through the train from Spirit Tracks, mobility won't be an issue, allowing for a Zelda farming simulator with an extremely expansive world.

Hopefully, Nintendo and those in charge of the next Zelda game will consider the idea, as they have all the resources needed to create an excellent farming simulator for the franchise. It may even be what the fans need, as they could use a break from all the action and settle down for something a little more cozy.
