Warzone Season 2
  • their

With Season 2 of Black Ops 7 and Warzone starting soon, Activision has revealed all the new content that is coming to the battle royale. Some of the additions were already revealed at COD Next 2025 through a roadmap released back then.

From the return of Treyarch's first battle royale attempt to a facelift to Rebirth Island, this season looks to pack as much content (or maybe more) as the previous one. We have prepared a summary with all the new content.

When Does Warzone Season 2 Come Out?

Season 2 of Black Ops 7 and Warzone is scheduled to come out on Thursday, February 5, on all platforms. The new content will go live at 9:00 AM PT (5:00 PM GMT), which is the usual release time for all updates.

PC players will be able to preload the update a few days in advance through the Battle.net launcher. The preload for console players will begin a few hours before launch.

The season should last around eight weeks, with a mid-season patch arriving at the midpoint to add the remaining content.

Rebirth Island Winter Refresh

Rebirth Island is getting a refresh at the start of the season, and this time, the map will get covered in snow. You can take a look at the new minimap below:

The winter island will feature two new POIs, one marked on the map titled Turbine and another one not marked called Outpost. Turbine is a new facility on the north shore of the island that was developed by the Guild forces from the Black Ops 7 campaign.

The Outpost POI is located east of Stronghold and southwest of Living Quarters, and has docking bays on the shore.

Some of the buildings already present on the island have been renovated by the Guild, meaning they will look different and more modern.

The snow will introduce a new factor into the game, as some areas will leave footprints when walking over it. This will allow players to track enemies using their footsteps, adding another layer to the gameplay. On top of that, the usual gas circle of Nova 6 will be replaced with a snowstorm to go with the winter theme.

Blackout Experience and Avalon

The new season will introduce a new "Blackout Experience", scheduled to go live at mid-season with the Season 2 Reloaded update. Although the title is a little bit cryptic, the mode will resemble the Blackout gameplay from the battle royale launched in 20219 alongside Black Ops 4.

This means we will see players deploy into the map with wingsuits, as that mechanic is already in the current engine thanks to Black Ops 7's Endgame mode. Some players speculate that we could also see a similar looting system to the original game, where players would pick up attachments to equip to the guns.

This new Blackout Experience will take place on the map Avalon, which is also available in Endgame.

Ranked Play

Ranked Play is set to launch early in the season, and Raven Software already confirmed through a post on X that it will feature the Resurgence mode. A specific release date hasn't been revealed, but we expect it to arrive in the first three weeks.

In terms of the map, Raven also confirmed Haven's Hollow will host the ranked playlist for the entirety of Season 2.

New Modes

Apart from Ranked Play, here is a list of other modes that will get added throughout the seasons, along with a short description of each one:

  • Loaded Resurgence (Launch, Rebirth Island): A fast-paced variation on the classic Resurgence experience that drops players into the action fully Loadout-equipped from the start.
  • Rush Resurgence (In season, Rebirth Island):  Rush Resurgence brings all the chaos of a fast-moving move, but in an even more rapid form. Redeploy time is reduced, there is a Fire Sale public event at the second gas circle, and matches should end in half the time of the normal Resurgence.
  • Extreme Resurgence (Mid-season, Haven's Hollow): All the usual Resurgence rules apply, but there will be 100 players per match instead of the usual 52.
  • Iron Gauntlet Beta (In season and mid-season, Verdansk): These are all the features for this new competitive mode:
    • Scarce resources
    • Competitive duos
    • Rapid Collapse: Circle collapses more rapidly than in normal BR
    • There are no free Loadout drops and Buy Station prices are increased.
    • Only Bikes and ATVs are available.
    • Base health has been raised (from 150 to 300 units). Regeneration delay has been adjusted, and regeneration rate has been reduced. All design to slow TTK (time to kill).
    • Epic and Legendary weapons spawn less often, and Killstreaks as well as Cash drops are rarer.
    • One-hit kill protection is enabled. Stim shot has been removed.
    • The Gulag, Contracts, and respawn mechanics are the same as the main Call of DutyWarzone Battle Royale mode.

Other details

Here are other minor details and speculations for the new season, so you don't miss out on anything:

  • We can expect at least one new collaboration with another IP to arrive during the season.
  • The Slot 1 for perks will be reworked, with three new perks replacing existing ones. Here is the list:
    • Field Medic (Replaces Veteran): Reviving teammates is faster. When you revive an ally, they immediately receive an inserted armor plate from their inventory and a brief movement speed boost. The same benefits apply when you’re revived. It also increases your bleed-out duration and provides resistance to several tactical effects.
    • Drill Instructor (Replaces Grenadier): After sprinting for a short duration, you’ll begin regenerating health. Nearby allies gain movement speed and faster mantling.
    • Surveyor (Replaces Cold-Blooded): When nearby opponents interact with Buy Stations or activate Contracts, they briefly appear on the map. UAVs you deploy cover a larger area, and your mini-map is zoomed out. It also highlights downed enemies through walls within closer range.
