Umamusume Pretty Derby: How to Get a Lot of Carats as Soon as You Start

When it comes to playing Umamusume Pretty Derby, one of the first things that needs to be prioritized isn't to train an S or even A-rank horse girl, but to secure as many Carats as possible. This is especially true for new players, as they won't be able to enjoy what the game offers otherwise.

If you're one of them, know that the game provides you with a good chunk of the currency for starting, but only so much. With that in mind, it's essential to know how to farm Carats in Umamusume as soon as you boot up the game. To do so, there are methods, some of which are easy and others a little more challenging, but all are doable by just about everyone.

1. Head Over to the Game’s Scout Menu

Given that the game provides a decent amount of Carats to thank newcomers for playing, it's best to use that gift to acquire the real money makers: the horse girls themselves. Use the initially provided free ticket to get 3-Star Umamusume, then head over to the Scout menu to get more.

The aim is to acquire as many different horse girls as possible, as every new one means more Carats. This also applies to Support Cards, which means it's important to include them in the purchasing process. Try to set aside Carats for both, as doing so is the best way to earn more opportunities to get the in-game currency.

2. Start Training Your Favorite Horse Girls

After acquiring a good number of horse girls, 10 being ideal, the next step is to head on over to Umamusume's Career mode. This is where you will officially make your debut as a trainer and start earning those sweet extra Carats.

Playing the mode means opportunities to clear in-game missions, which can be anything from completing a race to playing the claw machine mini-game. The rewards for completing each one are usually Carats, making it easy to see why training an Umamusume is essential to earning more. Try to make it all the way to the end of a horse girl's career and win as many races as possible, as they're tied to missions that give a lot of the in-game currency. Doing so can be tough, but with the right Support Cards and some luck, it's possible.

3. Go to Umamusume’s Story Menu

After training Umamusumes and finishing their careers, the next step is to head over to the game's Story Menu. Each horse girl has her own tale consisting of seven episodes, and simply watching them provides Carats, making this one of the easiest ways to earn the in-game currency.

There is also a main story that provides the same, but its chapters have races that must be won to progress, meaning players have to put in some effort. Still, they shouldn't be a problem, considering that you'll likely have your anime horse girls trained well enough to beat them and acquire those sweet extra Carats.

4. Enhance Trainees and Support Cards

As a new Umamusume player, if you've done the previous methods, then you'll likely have what's needed to make the most out of the game's Enhance menu. There, you will unlock the potential of both your acquired horse girls and Support Cards, which require different resources from Monies to Star Pieces.

Doing so means completing missions that involve enhancement, which leads to earning additional Carats. Enhance both Trainees and Support Cards as high as you can take them, as doing so means that the game will give you more of the in-game currency.

5. Be Sure to Do the Link App Data Mission

This mission can easily provide players with 1000 Carats, and all one needs to do to complete it is to generate a Trainer ID and create a Link password through the Data Link menu option. Aside from being a method of acquiring the in-game currency, it also provides a safety net, as the valuable information created can be used to transfer game data between different devices.

There is always the possibility that another person could steal the data, making some hesitant from pushing through with the Data Link or not even consider it. However, that fear means missing out on a lot of Carats, which would be such a waste. As long as one is extra careful and stores their Trainer ID and Link password in a secure place, then doing the mission shouldn't be a problem.

Remember, you'll want to have a lot of Carats to get the most out of being a newcomer in Umamusume Pretty Derby, so consider all of these methods. Hopefully, you do, as even though some of them can seem quite tedious, the amount of in-game currency gained makes the hassles from doing them more than worth it.
