Silent Hill f Early Access is finally here, and players are already spending their first few hours exploring the horrors of Ebisugaoka, a setting far removed from the Silent Hill town we grew to love in previous entries.

With a new Silent Hill game comes new horrors waiting to kill you. The monsters in Silent Hill f are relentless, from nimble mannequins armed with knives to grotesque amalgams of human heads. They are not to be taken lightly unless you have a game plan in place. Charging into combat unprepared will get you killed, which is why saving regularly is one of the most important things in Silent Hill f.

Hokora.

Silent Hill f uses a very lenient autosave system. It usually triggers when you enter a new area or after a major cutscene. For times when it doesn’t, you’ll need a Hokora to save manually. Otherwise, you risk losing all your progress if the autosave has not been activated.

Hokoras are the game’s save stations, similar to Typewriters in Resident Evil or the red papers from the Silent Hill 2 Remake. Simply approach a Hokora and select “Record” to save your progress. This way, if you die to a nearby enemy after scavenging through alleyways for items, you won’t have to redo everything.

What Else Can the Hokora Do?

Hokora save slots.

The Hokora is more than just a save station. It serves as a small sanctuary where you can take a moment to recover by “Clearing your mind,” which restores your Sanity. It’s also where you manage progression by offering relics in exchange for Faith. Faith points can then be used to purchase stat upgrades for Hinako’s Health, Stamina, Sanity, and Omamori slots. However, this requires 1 Ema to access.

Emas are scattered throughout the game, often hidden in secret locations. As we mentioned in our beginner’s guide, exploration is essential in Silent Hill f, not only for survival but also for Hinako’s growth.

That’s all you need to know. Saving in Silent Hill f is straightforward, but even with autosave, you should never get complacent. Make a habit of saving regularly at Hokoras when you see one.
