The Gulag acts as a last-chance saloon for Warzone players looking to drop back into the action after an early elimination. With Season 3 on the horizon, the community is preparing for Operation Monarch and the arrival of an all-new Gulag layout.
On April 21, Activision unveiled the full roadmap for the upcoming season of post-launch content.
Ranging from all-new weapons to major changes to the Caldera map, Season 3 will be the first season of the Pacific era that features a brand-new Gulag layout for players to master in order to redeploy.
Warzone Season 3 Gulag
In a blog post, Activison shared details on the new close-quarters battleground:

Symmetry often features in the design of the Gulag in Warzone, giving both competitors an equal chance of making it back into the ongoing match.
Players are no strangers to a change of Gulag. During the Black Ops Cold War era, the arena changed from scale replicas of Nuketown and Standoff before eventually returning the Verdansk showers in Season 6

With the appearance of Godzilla and Kong seemingly marking an end to Warzone's World War 2 era, the change of Gulag isn't surprising. The current layout contained a variety of bugs that turned the entire arena invisible, making it impossible for players to win.
If Warzone doesn't contain a Season 6, there's a high chance of the Hold Gulag layout remaining until the launch of Warzone 2 rumoured to take place in March 2023.
