Valorant is certainly one of Riot Games' more popular titles at the moment. With VCT Champions 2025 now over, the developers have released patch 11.08, which makes significant changes to the meta by adjusting almost every agent in the game.
Although the conversation on social media is revolving around this new update, it appears that Riot Games is secretly working on a new project in the Valorant universe. The Game Post reported that a new job listing on Riot Games' career page is looking for someone to have experience in the FPS genre and the Valorant IP.
Hours after the report came out, Riot updated the listing to remove both references. However, here is the original paragraph:
“Experience creating characters for the FPS genre. Experience working on a highly recognizable stylized game. Experience working with modern game engines such as Unity, Unreal, or proprietary technologies. Familiarity with the Valorant IP.”
The rumor gained more momentum when user SargeOP_ on X (formerly Twitter) posted a photo of the game in development, citing PlayerIGN, a popular leaker in the industry, as the source. Here is the post with the leaked image:
The user also pointed out that this will be an MMOFPS title and have seasons, indicating that it will follow the traditional format for post-launch content and updates.
For those unfamiliar with the MMOFPS genre, Destiny 2 is the best example we can give you. So we can only assume that Riot wants their version of Destiny, where players can do PvP or PvE activities to grind levels and get loot, but with Valorant characters and lore.
We will probably have to wait some time for more information about this project, since the job listing also mentioned that the project has just gone from prototype phase to pre-production, meaning the real work began not long ago.
