Just when everyone thought Red Dead Redemption 2’s mysteries were over, another one seemingly comes out of nowhere, perplexing its community once more.
It all started on December 15, 2025, when a Discord and Reddit user FL4VA-01 discovered what appears to be a spider web in Saint Denis’ eastern telegraph pole. Another user, u/pariah87, discovered that there are actually 8 other webs on telegraph poles.
The rest of the r/RedDeadMysteries subreddit and Discord channel soon began discussing what and when these webs spawn. They discovered that, during specific in-game hours, the spider web suddenly appears with red and black feathers attached to it. The revelation quickly caught the attention of Red Dead Redemption 2 mystery hunters, and the game was afoot.

The internet sleuths began their work immediately after the discovery. They explored the entirety of Red Dead Redemption 2’s open world, searching through places like Oil Fields and Saint Denis just to find these cryptic spiderwebs with feathers attached to them.
It wasn't until they realized they could overlay the spider emblems over a map, turning it into a spider-like shape with eight legs. Players noticed that each of the seven other telegraph poles (including the first one) with spiderwebs leads to a bigger puzzle.

But the mystery doesn’t stop there. More and more players discover new steps to the puzzle, including one telegraph pole with a cryptic message that reads “NW,” a symbol the community believes to be a guitar. Others postulate that this mysterious guitar is somewhere around the Fort Wallace area of the map. Other players also tried to lend their hand in the mystery, saying that there could be something in Spider Gorge and other existing areas with mysterious symbols. Alas, the community didn’t find anything substantial in those areas.
The mystery remains unsolved, as much of the community is split over what “NW Guitar” actually means. Some are also questioning whether the timing and order of the spider webs matter more than their locations.

Unlike many of Red Dead Redemption 2’s sham mysteries, such as the Princess IKZ case (which the community largely agrees is leftover data), this spiderweb mystery has real credence. Dataminers have found intricate code embedded within the game’s data. Players can even interact with the spiderwebs. Shooting key points seems to trigger a response, unveiling multiple paths that lead to the next step of this bizarre puzzle.
In the meantime, players are still exploring Fort Wallace and its surrounding area, searching for assets that look completely out of place or something that resembles a guitar. Some even turned their attention to weathervanes, while others were going crazy, checking every graphical glitch on rooftops.
This isn’t the first time a Rockstar game has invited players to solve a grand mystery. Grand Theft Auto V’s notorious Mt. Chiliad case once turned most of its players into a wild goose chase. It remains an unsolved mystery that many believe was cut content.
If the Spiderdreams mystery is, in fact, real, it could potentially be a case far larger than Grand Theft Auto V’s Mt. Chiliad.
