Little Nightmares 3 has officially launched, but it’s not the kind of game the fans wanted. The game has received mixed reception from gamers and critics alike, with some others calling it a “retread” of the same formula that the previous entries have already done.
If you’re feeling like Little Nightmares 3 hasn’t captured that horror platformer magic that you always wanted, check out REANIMAL.

Developed by the same folks behind Little Nightmares 1 and 2, REANIMAL takes you into another Lilliputian nightmare where you assume control of two wandering siblings in search for their missing friends so they could escape from this place where they used to call home.
Tarsier Studios’ mastery when it comes to atmosphere is maintained here. REANIMAL’s gloomy backdrop evokes the same kind of memory from our first journey back into the original’s The Maw. It is populated by otherworldly horrors that feel ripped out of a Cronenberg movie. This kind of hopeless situation is unmatched, and proved that Tarsier Studios can create their own entry without the brand Little Nightmares plastered into it.
What makes REANIMAL even better is that it finally takes it a step further with the introduction of a co-op mode. Supermassive Games has already implemented this feature with the latest Little Nightmares entry, and it’s one of the few redeemable qualities in that game. REANIMAL takes it up a notch with claustrophobic levels and terrifying pursuer type enemies with co-op in mind.

Supermassive Games’ mistake in Little Nightmares 3 was that it felt too safe. Most of the game’s horrifying encounters are already present in the previous two entries, leaving zero surprises for fans of the series who are looking forward to new scares. Additionally, the game felt unfinished and undercooked, with multiple bugs that block player progress. Not even its short runtime of 6-7 hours feels worth the $40 price tag.
REANIMAL has no official release date yet, but the good news is that the game’s Demo is currently available to download on Steam right now. Players can get a taste of its co-op adventures for 30 minutes, as well as marveling at the harrowing sights Tarsier Studios has crafted years after their Little Nightmares entries.

As of writing, the REANIMAL demo on Steam has already achieved an Overwhelmingly Positive response from players, whereas Little Nightmares 3 has suffered a massive dip in reviews, resulting in a “Mixed” rating on Steam.
While we can’t say for sure that REANIMAL is as good as its demo, judging from what little tease we have in the 30-minute showcase, it’s safe to say that REANIMAL is the true successor to the Little Nightmares series in everything but name.
