After almost eight years on PS4 and Xbox One, PUBG is getting ready to close the chapter on its last-gen versions.

Both platforms will lose access to the game completely starting November 13, 2025.

Once the servers go down for these older systems, PUBG will only be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Why is PUBG ending Support for PS4 and Xbox One?

PUBG Studios said the decision was carefully made as developers called it a “necessary step” to match the console version with current-generation hardware.

They said that keeping PS4 and Xbox One support in place limited technical progress, so moving to PS5 and Series X|S lets them prioritize stability, visuals, and performance without holding back.

Players upgrading to newer consoles will immediately notice PUBG running at 1440p/60 FPS on PS5 and 4K/60 FPS on PS5 Pro.

Xbox Series X will match the Pro’s 4K/60 FPS target, and Series S owners will have a choice between 1080p/60 FPS or 1440p/30 FPS modes.

According to the studio, these settings were finalized after extensive trials to keep the game running well with upcoming content.

Alongside sharper visuals, better memory optimization brings faster load times, smoother frame rates, and fewer crashes.

Will Players Lose Their Accounts and Progress?

Importantly, anyone who has been playing on PS4 or Xbox One won’t lose their hard-earned progress.

All account data, cosmetics, and purchased items will be preserved and ready to use the moment players log into the PS5 or Series X|S version.

Xbox users will get the upgrade automatically via Smart Delivery, while PlayStation players will need to download the dedicated PS5 version of the game since it’s separate from the PS4 app.

Though the era is ending, the team has taken time to thank long-time players on last-gen. They remembered the fierce battles and thrilling moments that built PUBG’s console community and thanked players for the past eight years.

Still, they stress that the move is intended to support PUBG Console’s long-term stability and growth.

With November’s cut-off date approaching, current PS4 and Xbox One players have a few months to upgrade if they want to keep playing.

For PUBG Studios, it is the start of a chapter dedicated to creating the most stable, visually impressive, and future-ready version of the battle royale yet.
