HoyoVerse, the developers behind hit gacha titles Zenless Zone Zero and Genshin Impact, has unveiled their first ever first life sim with science fiction elements: Petit Planet.
Clearly inspired by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s Little Prince, Petit Planet takes players into a cosmic life sim where they can create their own sanctuary of wonder and charm. Petit Planet removes Hoyo's highly stylized attractive anime characters in favor of a chibi-style feature for its characters as well as a wide variety of furry companions as friends and neighbors.
Here’s everything you need to know about Petit Planet:
What is Petit Planet?

Petit Planet is a life sim with gacha elements. Players familiar with Nintendo’s acclaimed Animal Crossing series know what to expect in terms of gameplay loop and systems. It puts players into their own cozy little abode in the form of a little planet. Players can do a wide variety of activities including fishing, building a farm, mining, crafting and a whole lot more. Additionally, they can also customize their own houses, from traditional interior designing to outdoor arrangements.
Unlike Animal Crossing’s limited customization options, Petit Planet has a wide breadth of customization options available for almost everything on your planet. Players can decorate the skies, the land, and even the sea depending on your neighbors, which offer their own brand of magic to the table.
How Does Gacha Work in Petit Planet?
There’s not much information about how the gacha system works in Petit Planet. Given that it’s a HoyoVerse product, it’s expected that it will likely have monetization similar to their previous titles. This may include having to spend resources to travel to other neighboring planets and inviting companions and other neighbors over to your humble abode.
The game has an interesting feature where they can board their vehicle and travel to other planets in search for more resources, discovering rare creatures, finding hidden recipes, and even meet unlikely friends across its adorable universe.
How Multiplayer Works in Petit Planet

Multiplayer is the heart and soul of Petit Planet and it encourages players to meet new friends across its vast cosmic skies.
In the reveal trailer, we see players hanging out on another player’s planet and having some fun under the starlit skies. There’s no info on how many online friends you can invite in your planet, but if we follow Animal Crossing’s case, it will likely have up to a total of eight players in one planet.
If you can’t find new friends, the game has a massive online social hub called the Galactic Bazaar where you can see other players hanging out in the open and doing fun activities.
When is Petit Planet’s Release Date?
Petit Planet has no definite release date yet, but HoyoVerse is working hard to get the game available soon.
Petit Planet’s Pre-Registration and Closed Beta
Pre-Registration for Petit Planet is available now. Players can sign up for the game’s upcoming closed-beta here and prepare themselves for HoyoVerse’s adorable cozy life sim when it comes out soon.
What Platform is Petit Planet Available?
Petit Planet is coming to iOS and Android devices, as well as PC. Consoles like PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S are still in development. The game will have crossplay support, so you can play with other players regardless of platform.
That’s everything we know so far about HoyoVerse’s upcoming life sim game Petit Planet. We will update this when we get more information down the line.
