  • Quick Answer: Both endings are canon; Max’s powers merge dimensions to bring Chloe back regardless of your original choice, with the game launching on March 27, 2026.

Life Is Strange: Reunion has finally been revealed, with developers Deck Nine answering the most obvious question right from the get-go regarding Chloe's Price return: which ending is canon?

As it turns out, and as you would have expected if they wanted to keep the community happy, both endings from the original Life Is Strange will be canon for the story of Reunion. Considering Max's powers in Double Exposure, that isn't all that surprising, but in case you've been out of the loop, let me explain.

Beware of massive spoilers for the series incoming.

Which Life Is Strange Ending Is Canon In Reunion?

For Life Is Strange: Reunion, both of the original LiS endings will be taken into consideration and alter your playthroughs.

The original Life Is Strange had players make a massive choice: whether they saved Chloe, Max's best friend (and, depending on your playthrough, potential love interest), or save Arcadia Bay, the small town nestled in the Pacific Northwest of the United States.

For some, seeing Chloe return means that the "canon" ending used by Deck Nine was having Max save her while a massive storm wiped Arcadia Bay. The infamous Bae or Bay decision. As it turns out, both endings are canon depending on your choices, with each having distinct implications and opening different lines of dialogue for both Chloe and Max.

While (obviously) not diving too deep into the how could this happen of the entire situation, it is heavily implied that both choices occur in alternate dimensions and that Chloe has memories of both. If you played Double Exposure this would make sense to you considering Max's newfound powers in said game. By choosing which ending you prefer or deem correct, you are simply playing things out as they would in said timeline, at least from Max's perspective.

All that aside, the biggest question now is: how is Chloe alive in the timeline where she was sacrificed? As Max explained during a cutscene shown in the reveal stream, it looks like she merged more than two singular timelines while trying to save Sophie, potentially pulling a living Chloe to a timeline where she dies. This, in turn, filled this "new" Chloe with memories of both LiS endings.

This point is reiterated if you opted to destroy Arcadia Bay. If you decide to spare Chloe and let Arcadia Bay disappear, Chloe will mention the storm that originally wiped the town, but recalling it as a very vivid memory rather than an actual thing that happened.

It's all a tad too confusing for my liking, as it tends to happen with stories involving time travel. But Deck Nine is at least respecting the fact that both endings could have potentially happened instead of deeming one as the proper canon ending. Plus, we still need to see how the story unfolds when Life Is Strange: Reunion launches this March 27.
