Bath Salts are a special “Indulgence” item that Melinoë can offer to companions who live at the Crossroads.
Handing one to an eligible character prompts them to join her in the Hot Springs and unlocks a special bathing scene.
You can’t gift Bath Salts until the Hot Springs are back in working order. That step unlocks everything — here’s how to do it.
How Do You Unlock the Crossroads Hot Springs?
At first, the Hot Springs are locked, but as you progress, you’ll uncover the Rite of Vapor-Cleansing in the Cauldron near Hecate’s usual spot.

Brewing this incantation repairs the bathhouse and grants your very first Bath Salts for free.
To complete the ritual, you’ll need:
- 2 Moly – found early in Erebus.
- 2 Nightshade – grown from Nightshade seeds.
- 2 Lotus – gathered in Oceanus after you’ve opened that region.
Once the rite is performed, a new path opens near the familiar animals in the Crossroads that leads directly to the Hot Springs.
How Can You Get More Bath Salts?
After the Hot Springs are unlocked, there are two reliable ways to keep your supply of Bath Salts growing.

The most dependable option is to purchase them from the Wretched Broker in the Crossroads.
Under the “Exotic Goods” section of the shop, the Broker usually sells one Bath Salts per night for 50 Bones. Each time you complete a run and return to the hub, the stock refreshes, so it’s smart to earn enough Bones during your descent to afford one when you come back.
If the Broker isn’t present, you can perform the Summoning of Mercantile Fortune incantation to bring them to the Crossroads.
The second option is to dig with the Silver Spade while exploring. Bath Salts have a small chance to appear when you uncover glowing digging spots scattered across the Underworld and the Surface.
This method is far less predictable and may take several runs before you find even one, but it’s a nice bonus if you’re already exploring with the spade equipped.
Overall, buying Bath Salts from the Broker after every run is the easiest and most consistent way to build up a stockpile, while digging serves more as an occasional extra source when luck is on your side.
How Do You Use Bath Salts?
Once you have Bath Salts in your inventory and the Hot Springs are repaired, you can start inviting companions to join you.

First, you need to build enough affinity with the character you’re targeting.
Most residents won’t accept a bath invitation right away; you’ll need to raise their bond by giving Nectar and, in some cases, other special gifts until their heart track shows a Bath Salts icon.
If you try to use Bath Salts too early, the character will politely refuse and return the item to you. When a character is ready, simply offer the Bath Salts by talking to them at the Crossroads.
If they accept, you’ll both head to the Hot Springs for a special scene. They help strengthen relationships and push certain bond levels forward.
They also advance the in-game clock by twelve While(s), which is useful if you’re waiting for gardens to grow or other time-locked events to finish.
