Harbor Rework in Valorant Explained

Harbor Valorant

Harbor Valorant

Harbor's reputation in VALORANT has always been extremely poor. The Indian is often seen as a meme, the guy in the room nobody would pay special attention to. This is about to change.

As already revealed by Riot Games, Harbor's abilities will be reworked in patch 11.10. However, Riot Games never unveiled how the changes would affect the agent... until now. Finally, we have a first look at Harbor's abilities and how they will look like, as well as their official descriptions.

Harbor's rework explained

Harbor's changes will affect all of his abilities, including High Tide, Cove, Storm Surge, and Reckoning, his ultimate.

The changes make Harbor's abilities stronger, making him a better option when it comes to competing against other Controllers like Omen.

Here's a complete rundown of how each Harbor ability will change, including the official description of each ability:

  • High Tide: EQUIP High Tide. FIRE to send vision blocking Screen forward along the ground. HOLD FIRE to guide the Screen towards your crosshair. ALT FIRE to stop the Screen early. All players crossing High Tide are slowed.
  • Storm Surge: EQUIP Storm Surge. FIRE to throw, creating an explosive whirlpool that Nearshights and Slows enemies within it after a short duration.
  • Cove: EQUIP Cove. ACTIVATE to form a Smoke in the select location. HOLD FIRE or ALT FIRE while targeting to move the marker. RELOAD to toggle targeting view. REACTIVATE to Shield the Smoke from bullets. The Shielded Smoke can be destroyed.
  • Reckoning. EQUIP Reckoning. FIRE to unleash the full power of your artifact, releasing a surge of water that barrels forward to Nearsight and Slow enemies that are hit.

Harbor's new abilities make him a better option in Valorant's current meta. Riot Games' developers have made him a more versatile and dynamic operator, giving him more freedom and actually giving him the ability to place smokes in a similar way to Omen and Clove. He still can make the smoke go bulletproof, which is great.

Overall, Harbor's changes seem to be pretty balanced. At the same time, it's a clear upgrade to his previous abilities.

Is Harbor's rework actually a buff?

Harbor's rework clearly is a buff. It makes Harbor more versatile and adaptable to more meta-focused agent lineups, making him a great pick regardless of the situation.

Following Harbor's rework, we expect the Controller to create some competition with Omen. His abilities are wider, he can now nearsight, slow, and place smokes. At the same time, Riot Games have managed to make the changes feel natural; these are some obvious improvements that actually make Harbor feel like Harbor... but much better.

However, not everything is good news for Harbor's mains. The abilities still affect all players (including allies) and some people believe his new ultimate is actually a downgrade, as his previous ultimate indicated the position of all enemies on the impacted area. Still, that's just personal opinions; we still think the changes are positive.

In conclusion, Riot Games have done a great job with Harbor's rework. The overall improvement of all of his abilities can't be denied and it should make the Indian agent a better pick considering Valorant's current meta. So, when the improvements are deployed, make sure to try out the new version of Harbor!
