Dispatch Season 2 Wishlist: Top 5 Things We Want to See

Dispatch

Dispatch

Dispatch is officially over. I'm sad to see my beloved characters go their separate ways. With zero confirmation of a Season 2 from AdHoc Studios except for Aaron Paul’s (Robert’s VA) giddy excitement, we’re left wondering what’s next for this spiritual successor to Telltale Games signature formula.

After selling over 1 million copies since its launch, AdHoc Studios surely has a plan for Season 2, right? If that happens, here’s what we want to see in a hypothetical Dispatch second season. Keep in mind that there are SPOILERS in this list.

More Meaningful Choices in Dispatch Season 2

Making tough choices.

One of the issues I had with Dispatch season 1 was its lack of meaningful choices. I talked about it in our review, saying that none of it really impacts the story as they mostly result in character or dialogue swaps, except for Invisigirl’s route.

While I absolutely adored the choices I’ve made, what I love to see in Season 2 is to have more branching paths from our choices. We could get an extensive set of heroes to choose from, aside from having to pick between Coupe or Sonar, or Phenomaman and Waterboy.

AdHoc has already mastered the episodic formula with its perfect balance of gameplay and cinematic, so working on more dynamic choices feels like something they’d do in the future.

More Romance Options in Dispatch Season 2

A date with Invisigal.

Dispatch already features some of the industry’s best characters since Larian Studios’ Baldur’s Gate III, but one thing that bothered me was its lack of romance options beyond Invisigirl or Blonde Blazer.

What about Malevola? Prism? Flambae? Or Golem? The game’s diverse cast is fantastic, but they could benefit from added screentime with exclusive and spicier romance options. This is a tall order for an indie studio to work on, but it is possible.

Season 2 could up the stakes for workplace romance, providing more than two candidates for our next protagonist.

New Characters in Dispatch Season 2, But Keep the Old Ones

Imagine seeing Sonar in future seasons.

It might be too early to say this, but Robert Robertson and the Z-Teams’ stories are practically over. Their growth as a team was resolved in the game’s finale, so there’s little to no reason to explore their stories again. Unless AdHoc decides to expand on each of the Z-Team’s characters, like Prism or Invisigal.

Season 2 could introduce new characters into the fold. Maybe something more from Mr. Whiskers, the office cat, or something from Galen’s squad of heroes. Of course, our favorite Z-Team characters can still reappear as cameos or easter eggs.

Why Dispatch Needs More Seasons

Maybe something more to Mr. Whiskers?

Dispatch’s success suggests that we could get more seasons on the horizon. AdHoc Studios captured lightning in a bottle, and the love for episodic videogame formats has returned after Telltale.

As with any other season, future episodes would add a fresh set of faces and even go beyond the greater Los Angeles area. There’s also more room for AdHoc to experiment with different cultural settings, such as an Asian or European SDN branch, where we get to see another ragtag ensemble of heroes.

More Dispatching Gameplay Features

He's no Homelander that's for sure.

I am one of the few who didn’t enjoy the dispatching gameplay that much, but I understand the vision behind it. Part of my frustration is that it bugs out too much with audio not playing properly, and there are only limited actions to take in front of the screen.

Future seasons could improve on that gameplay by adding more strategic depth. Things like more supervillain encounters or new gameplay modes apart from hacking can work. Plus, we could also use the ability to slow down or fast-forward time. Or maybe a rewind option for the casuals?

Dispatch has been an absolute blast, and Season 1 establishes itself as one of the best episodic games in the market, rivaling that of Telltale’s catalog. If future seasons happen, hopefully AdHoc Studios take player feedback to heart so we can see more characters to adore apart from the Z-Team.
