A new co-op game is looking to enter the friendslop genre, and it feels like a mix between Mad Max and Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding.

Indie studio Take It Easy is developing CARGO: Co-Op Delivery Simulator in Post Apocalyptic World. It’s a mouthful of a title, but you get the idea. This survival-driven, cooperative delivery game drops players into a harsh, ruined landscape where deliveries could mean the difference between life and death.

A Mix of Death Stranding and Mad Max

Players take on the role of couriers, the last hope of humanity after survivors have retreated into their own isolated communities. The influence of Death Stranding is clear, as both games are set in post-apocalyptic worlds that rely on delivery services from dedicated porters like Norman Reedus’ Sam Bridges.

Cargo's gameplay is all about delivery.

As for its Mad Max vibe, the world of CARGO is a barren and unforgiving mess, making off-road vehicles essential for survival and profit. Players must navigate irradiated zones where mud and sand can hinder visibility and mobility. Along the way, raiders may appear to attack on sight and steal your cargo. If that doesn’t scream Mad Max inspiration, nothing does.

Co-Op and Survival Matters

For a co-op experience, CARGO encourages teaming up with friends. This not only eases the tension caused by hostile weather conditions and dangerous raiders, but also makes for more engaging gameplay, as more players mean more fun and better defense against threats. Like in other games such as REPO and PEAK, you can simply have fun and experiment, but the main objective is still to deliver cargo, so make sure no one forgets the mission.

Vehicle customization and settlements are encouraged.

Adding another layer, CARGO features survival elements beyond deliveries. Players can build their own small communities by constructing settlements, houses, and upgrading vehicles. These upgrades unlock better gear and open opportunities to create trade posts, making it easier to turn a profit.

At the moment, CARGO has no confirmed release date, but interest is already high. It has amassed more than 1,300 wishlists on Steam and over 160,000 views on TikTok clips, all without any marketing budget.
