When it comes to innovation the FPS genre, the Call of Duty franchise is often leading the charge. Whether it's introducing new levels of customisation or Open Combat Missions, Modern Warfare 3 looks likely to continue setting trends.

As the focus turns towards the release of Sledgehammer Games' latest title, the arrival of the Covert Sneakers Perk is bound to create new ways for players to move around and will appear alongside health changes that have already split player opinion.

The latest leak to emerge ahead of the beta claims Modern Warfare 3 will also overhaul the series' existing perk system, potentially introducing a new way to enhance gameplay during matches.

Call of Duty leak reveals potential MW3 Perks

According to notable Call of Duty leaker el_bobberto, Modern Warfare 3's perks will be split into three categories based on the gear of soldiers.

Instead of maintaining the timed perk system introduced in 2022's Modern Warfare 2, the leaker claims perks will now activate as soon as the match begins, meaning players won't have to wait around to receive the benefits. Based on the comments from players on the post, many are questioning what the reasoning behind the apparent adjustment would be. One asserted: "These are just renamed perks right? I assume they work the same and activate at the start."

The potential perk system el_bobberto outlines in their post is seemingly split into the following categories: Gloves, Boots, and Vests. Benefits range from silent footstep audio to faster aiming and movement speeds.

With a few months to go until the launch of Modern Warfare 3, leaks are continuing to appear. The most recent revolves around the possible arrival of new licensed Operators, which it suggests would include Evil Dead's Ash Williams and Skeletor from the Masters of the Universe.

As always, it's important to take leaks with a pinch of salt until Activision and Sledgehammer Games reveals more official info at the Call of Duty Next event taking place in early October.
